Deal or No Deal (NBC)

How many of you have watched Deal or No Deal on NBC? Its been awhile since I’ve enjoyed a good gameshow. Who wants to be a Millionare caught my attention for a short period of time back in ’99 but no other gameshow has had me glued to my seat than this one.

The rules are fairly simple. You have 26 sealed cases with different denominations of cash in it. It varies from one penny to one million dollars. The player tries to eliminate 25 briefcases while keeping the largest amounts of money from being opened up. What you try to do it guess which cases have the least amount of money in them. If the cases with the larger amounts are opened first, the player loses the chance of winning that amount of money at the end of the show. After a certain amount of cases are opened, “The Bank” offers to buy the remaining cases from you. It’s a sort of bribe. If you take it, then you make a DEAL with the bank and you go home with the money offered to you. If you do not take it, you make NO DEAL and you lose on the money offered to you and you take the chance that the remaining cases you open are the right ones. Every so often “The Bank” offers you a bribe to send you packing.

I have seen several people turn down a little over of a quarter of a million dollar bribe. It goes to show just how greedy some people can be. Its funny because most go home with almost nothing.

Congrats to NBC for a great show.
