Deadliest Warrior : Yakuza got Screwed!

I’m pretty confused about the results of the simulation between the Yakuza versus the Sicilian Mafia. Besides the raw power of the sawed off shotgun (at close range not midrange btw) I really can’t see how the Mafia had any advantage at all. Skillset wise the Yakuza trumped the the Mafia in every way. They were more disciplined, were trained in mixed martial arts, and were very precise and discrete. As the show progressed however, it was clear to see that the edge went to those weapons with pure power and overall destruction. They didn’t take into consideration the skill of the opponent or their accuracy.

What irked me the most was the ending of the simulation. How does a Mafia brawler kill the last remaining Yakuza gangster with a ice pick! Now come on! Two Japanese Sai’s versus and ice pick with the ice pick winning? In one on one combat, Yakuza wins hands down. There is no damn way a Yakuza gangster goes down to an ice pick when he has TWO weapons made specifically for disarming an opponent.

The more obvious fault on this episode was the use of the nun chucks against the bat. Why not the Katana versus the bat? We saw that Katana drawn so many times on the show yet it was never used? The katana would have cut right through any bat in close quarters and if a katana came anywhere near the dummy head it was coming off! Yes, the bat crushed the skull, but the katana would have went through the bat and right through the persons neck at the same time!

They seriously need to modify the simulations! The Yakuza should have won this matchup hands down. What did you think?

Deadliest Warrior – Pirate vs. Knight Controversy

I’m just curious to see what everyone else thinks about it. I myself thought the Knight would win based on superior armor and close range weaponry. In a one on one duel to the death, I really thought the armor + chainmail + shield would be enough to survive the long range attacks of a pirate. I don’t even recall them testing the chainmail which is pretty significant if you ask me.

Do you think they gave too much credit to the Blunderbuss? I have embedded the full video on the Pirate versus Knight Aftermath for your viewing pleasure. You may also check out the huge debate between fans of the show over at spike.com.

Deadliest Warrior (Spike)

If you love a gore fest and are a fan of historical warriors, this may be the show for you. Deadliest Warrior is Spike TV’s latest attempt at reality television. In this series, two of history’s most dangerous and notorious warriors are pitted against each other in computer generated one on one combat.

Experts from each art who have backgrounds in the weaponry and history of these warriors are selected to help run various tests using multiple forms of the latest cutting edge technology. At the end of these tests, the data collected is inputted in a computer where a simulated battle takes place and the winner of the contest is decided based on 1000 computer generated fights.

So far, Spike has released two episodes successful episodes. The first pitted the Apache versus Gladiator while the second pitted the Samurai versus Viking. So far, my predictions have been perfect with both the Apache and Samurai beating their respective competition. I’m on the verge of going 3-0 today if my pick takes out his latest rival.

Tonight’s episode features the spartan versus the ninja. Growing up I was a huge fan of the ninja, but against a spartan, I don’t think he’ll stand a chance. As much as I love my Asian ancestry, I have to go with the Spartan to win this one. The ninja is definitely more stealthy and deceptive, but in one and one combat, I think the spartan will just overwhelm a ninja with his strength and selection of weapons. Who do you think is the deadliest warrior? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see!

Showtime: Tuesdays at 10pm. On Guam: Wednesdays at 10pm.

My picks so far: (4-4)

Episode 4 – Knight – Lose
Episode 5 – Yakuza – Lose
Episode 6 – Green Baret – Lose
