I was watching Animal Planet yesterday and there was a documentary on Siberian Tigers. I’ve always been fascinated with big cats, and the Siberian Tiger has always been my favorite. These huge cats can weigh in excess of 800 pounds and reach a length of up to 11-12 feet. I think thats pretty amazing. Dont you think? I also think they are those most majestic and beautiful in the cat family.
Have you ever sat down to really think about how many animals we have pushed to the brink of extinction? I mean seriously sat down to think about it. I dont think many people do this. Im not sure why, but I’ve always been a advocate for animal conservation. It really makes me angry to know that there are people who are so cruel to animals. The blatant disregard for the right of these animals to live just gets on my nerves. Who are we to decide which animal deserves the right to live or die? Greed and plain ignorance have wiped out entire species of animals in just the past 100 years. If we are truly the ambassadors of this earth, dont we have the duty to save these and other magnificent creatures on this earth? All these mass extinctions are going to cause some big problems with the earth ecosystem in the next fifty to seventy five years. Our children will suffer from it if changes are not made NOW.
I would like to believe that we as human beings would have the sense to save our world and its inhabitants. Its our job. I would love my children to be able to experience seeing a live Tiger. I was able to meet a live tiger head on, but thats another story entirely.
I just want everyone to take time to reflect on it. We’ve destroyed so much in the past few decades. I think its time we gave back.
