Lesnar slaps other heavyweight’s in the FACE!

55447Its finally official. On November 15th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, Randy “The Natural” Couture will make his return debut in the octagon against former WWE Champion Brock Lesnar.

Personally I think this matchup is a slap in the face to other heavyweights in the division. Yes I realize that Brock has beaten Heath Herring via decision. Kudos to him. But has everyone forgotten his loss to Frank Mir in the first round via submission? Mir was clearly the better fighter in that bout and that was proved after he applied the kneebar to a “rookie” in MMA.

Although I agree that Brock stacks up well against most of the heavyweights in the UFC, I still think that he should fight a few more contenders before he is given a shot at the title. What about Mir? Nogueira? Werdum? Gonzaga? Are these fighters not worthy opponents for him?

Yet, it’s hard to argue against this card when considering the profit margin this fight will undoubtedly rake in come November. Mixed Martial Arts fans as well as wrestling fans will be sure to tune into this event billed as the biggest MMA fight ever. Even Dana White himself admits it:

The Scorpion King 2 : Rise of a Warrior (DVD)

1218570345_scorpion_king_2And I thought The Mummy III was bad. The Scorpion King 2 : Rise of a Warrior was without a doubt the most horrible film ever released by the producers of the Mummy franchise. After such a promising start with their first SK release, it comes as a shock that they would allow a sequel under these conditions to be purchased by the public. The producers should be ashamed of themselves.

There really isn’t anything positive to say about this feature. The acting was bad, the CGI was bad, the dialogue was horrendous, and the plot was senseless. The highlight of the film was probably watching Astarte (Natalie Becker) and Layla (Karen Shenaz David) kick each others butts half naked in the Underworld. Yes, that may in fact sound shallow to you, but the film really doesn’t offer anything much deeper than that.

Then there is the former UFC Champion Randy Couture. Once on top in the world of mixed martial arts, he is now but a shadow of his former self. I’m sure one day he’ll look back and wish he would have kept his contract with former employer Dana White. Although nicknamed the “Natural” among UFC fans, acting is definitely not one of those things that come natural to him. His attempts to sound like a menacing villain was completely laughable and reminded me more of a teenager going through puberty rather than a villain ready to conquer the world. For your sake and mine Randy, I beg you to please stop making a fool of yourself.

My suggestion to you. Save yourself the torture and don’t bother with this film at all. Its right on par with some of the worst films I have ever watched.

Fedor Emelianenko vs. Randy Couture

PhotobucketAfter watching the Wanderlei Silva vs. Chuck Liddell fight, this dream matchup of Fedor Emelianenko vs. Randy Couture was one of the few I still wished would happen.

With Couture aging quickly and Fedor unable to agree on a contract with the UFC, I was sure that this fight was completely out of the question and we would never see it come to fruition.

Now it looks like it just may come true after all. MMAJUNKIE.COM has reported that the possibility of a matchup between these two legendary heavyweights may actually happen if Randy can find a way to clear himself of a pending lawsuit filed against him by the UFC. I hope Dana White lets him go after his contract expires in October. It would be a sad day in MMA sports if Dana pulls one of long strung out court battles and Randy gets too old to make the fight worth watching.

Make it happen Dana! Do it for mix martial arts and the fans! This is bigger than you! Bigger than the UFC!!!

Couture and Emelianenko came together to shoot promotional materials for Couture’s Affliction clothing line, for which Emelianenko is now a celebrity endorser.

The two fighters also reportedly talked about the possibility of their future mega-fight. Couture resigned from the UFC in October and said part of the reason was the UFC’s inability to sign Emelianenko to the organization. Emelianenko, on the other hand, recently signed a non-exclusive deal with M-1 Global and has talked openly about his desire to fight Couture once he’s available.

The only thing that could keep the fight from happening is the UFC’s pending lawsuit against Couture and UFC President Dana White. Couture is under the impression he’s free of the UFC’s reigns once his employment contract expires in October. The UFC feels differently, and the matter will likely be resolved by the courts.
