New Spring-The Novel
My roommate introduced me to the Wheel of Time several years ago during a power outage. I was such a huge fan of The DragonLance Chronicles that I basically refused to read any other fantasy novels that didn’t involve Tanis and Raistlin in them. What a mistake. It took two months to finally pick up the book “The Eye of the World” and finally read it. I was hooked.
Robert Jordan, the author of the series created a world that is unforgettable. The only problem I’ve had so far with the series is its length. He should have wrapped it up around book 5 or 6 but he has extended it to over 10 books and it has gotten a bit out of hand. Although Im still a fan of his work, and his first 5 books can be considered masterpieces of fiction, I’ve lost interest in reading the rest although I almost finished the series so far!. I’ll probrably pick up book10 just because Im curious to see how the story will finally end.
Here is the current breakdown. I highlighted the books I haven’t read. The Prequel is the latest book out. The first of three.
Prequel: New Spring: The Novel
Book One: The Eye of the World
Book Two: The Great Hunt
Book Three: The Dragon Reborn
Book Four: The Shadow Rising
Book Five: The Fires of Heaven
Book Six: Lord of Chaos
Book Seven: A Crown of Swords
Book Eight: The Path of Daggers
Book Nine: Winter’s Heart
Book Ten: Crossroads of Twilight
Well this has kind of gone off topic. haha. The reason for this entry was to talk about the release of his prequel to the Wheel of Time series. There is a certain character by the name of Lan that I’ve always been fascinated with. I finally get to understand him more in depth. I’ll write a review when Im finished with this book.
The Wheel of Time turns and ages come and pass. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow. Let the Dragon ride again on the winds of time.
