Voyage of the Dawn Treader (Trailer)

The Chronicles of Narnia series was the starting point in regards to my obsession with fantasy novels and folklore. I received the box set as a Christmas present in elementary school and have been hooked to the fantasy genre ever since. The trailer looks pretty good and I cant wait to see how they bring the Voyage of the Dawn Treader to life. One of my favorite books from the series.

Lucy and Edmund Pevensie return to Narnia with their cousin Eustace where they meet up with Prince Caspian for a trip across the sea aboard the royal ship The Dawn Treader. Along the way they encounter dragons, dwarves, merfolk, and a band of lost warriors before reaching the edge of the world.

The Chronicles of Narnia:Prince Caspian (Theaters)

chronicles_of_narnia_prince_caspian_ver2The Chronicles of Narnia:Prince Caspian was an excellent sequel to The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe which was released nearly three years ago. Far darker than its predecessor, Prince Caspian begins one year after (1300 Narnian Years) Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy have returned from their first adventure in the magical realm.

Visually, this film is stunning. The CGI work was incredible and the “Old Narnians” looked very realistic. The storyline is fairly straight forward and I feel that most kids should find it easy enough to understand. What really took me by surprise was the amount of violence Disney allowed in the film. I recall at least one decapitation, a bit of blood, and at least one sequence which a child screamed. However, this film is a far cry from the violence in films such as the Lord of the Rings and I would still highly recommend it to any parent who’s child is above the ages of seven or eight years old.

The Chronicles of Narnia

Over 20 years ago my mother handed me my first real chapter book to read. Guess what it was? The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. This very book ignited my interest in the literary world of fantasy novels. I’ve read the entire chronicles around 4 times and I still enjoy the storyline and journey I take into the land of Narnia. When I found out that Disney was producing its version of The Chronicles, I was pretty stoked. Im really looking forward to their interpretation of a truly amazing story.
