For what its worth, Starship Troopers 3 : Marauders was actually much better than the 2nd installment entitled Heros of the Federation. With a shoestring budget of just under $20 million, I felt that Marauders was actually a decent straight to DVD release.
The first thing I’d like to mention is the storyline of the film. I’d really like to applaud the producers of Marauder for returning to the roots of Starship Troopers. When the original was released back in 1997, it was one of my favorite Sci-Fi films due to its originality and satiric qualities. After the insanely blockheaded release of its sequel Heros of the Federation, I thought the franchise was doomed for failure. Fortunately for us fans, Marauder pointed the series back in the right direction. The social satire found throughout the original was the key ingredient to its success, and Marauder returns with that same vision.
The second thing the producers did right was recast Casper Van Dien as Johnny, Hero of Planet B. Considering not a single member of the original cast appeared in Heros of the Federation, Van Dien returns to his original role almost seamlessly and simply picks up where he left off without a hitch.
If your a die hard fan of Starship Troopers, your definitely appreciate this film. Although its CGI and special effects where pretty outdated, they did the best they could with their minimal budget. (compared to the $100 million for the original). One thing to look forward to is the great nude scene which bears it all! The ladies definitely look good, and as far as I can tell are all natural! It really made up for the lack of a nude Denise Richards! haha.
Synopsis: The war against the Bugs continues! A Federation Starship crash-lands on the distant Alien planet OM-1, stranding beloved leader Sky Marshal Anoke and several others, including comely but tough pilot Lola Beck. It’s up to Colonel/General Johnny Rico, reluctant hero of the original Bug Invasion on Planet P, to lead a team of Troopers on a daring rescue mission.
