Although he may have become a bit strange over the years, his music was ground-breaking and opened the doors to so many other artists. Just thought I’d wish Mike a Happy 50th birthday! There were so many songs I grew up listening to. I’ll have to create a list later this week!

Why did I get Married? (DVD)
After watching this film yesterday evening with my wife, I can’t understand how this movie got such terrible reviews on The Internet Movie Database (3.4/10). The only explanation I could conceive was that these people who rated the film had never actually watched it.
With that said, I thought that “Why did I get Married?” was an excellent film. The two primary reasons for its success were definitely the powerful storyline and its amazing cast.
The storyline was quite a refreshing change from all the stereotypical movies I’ve watched lately involving the African American Community. Instead of focusing on drug pushing, street gangs, and the ghetto fabulous lifestyle, this film centered on many of the hardships that come along with balancing out the commitments to a successful career, spouse, and family.
Perry did an absolutely wonderful job with choosing the film’s cast members. All of them put on excellent performances, but it was Malik Yoba, Tasha Smith, and Jill Scott whom I felt really made an impact on the movie’s landscape.
