Recently added “Fringe” to my Must See TV Listing

I wrote a post late last month regarding my selections for Must See Television Shows of 2008. Although I have no plans to drop those shows from my regular scheduled programming, I have added one more to the list of must see’s.

4. Fringe

From J.J. Abrams, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, the team behind “Star Trek,” “Mission: Impossible III” and “Alias,” comes a new series that will thrill, terrify and explore the blurring line between the possible and the impossible. Fox Info

I normally try to wait until the end of the first season to watch the entire series on DVD, but with all this talk about how great the series was I took a chance. As a die hard sci-fi geek I easily was drawn into it. Now I’m hooked on the series and hopefully its lasts unlike the promising Blade series which was cut just after a single season run.

When it Airs: On Guam is airs at 9pm every Wednesday on Fox6. I believe it airs in the mainland on Tuesday’s at 9/8c.

Why I watch it: First of all its J.J. Abrams we are talking about here! Just take a look at his track record. He’s like the Steven Spielberg of television. I tried to stay away and it became futile. I got totally sucked into it!

My favorite characters: Its easily Walter Bishop. I’m sure most would agree with me as well. Bishop is the Frankenstein of modern science and he brings a bit of comedic value to a show that would otherwise be all serious.

Must See TV Shows of 2008

terminatorAlthough I normally don’t participate in these types of things, Reggie at Fragileheart.com tagged me to complete this “meme” sometime earlier this week. With Reg being such a avid reader here at 7milesdown, I felt obliged to complete this post! haha. .

My three “Must See TV” picks for the season:

1. Terminator : The Sarah Connor Chronicles

TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES represents an exciting reinvention of the “Terminator” franchise, in which the strong and intrepid Sarah discovers that protecting her son and stopping the rise of the machines is more difficult than she could had ever imagined. Fox Wiki

When it Airs: Mondays on Fox starting at 8:00pm.

Why I watch it: The casting is great, the character development excellent, and the plot engaging and suspenseful. If I must take the shallow route, just be sure to check out Lena Headey and Summer Glau. Talk about some serious eye candy. How can a mom who is under so much stress look so damn good? And even nuttier, How can a cyborg we know is a cyborg still be so damn sexy!! haha.

My favorite characters: Im definitely huge on Summer Glau. I’m not sure why I am drawn to her character but I think they made an excellent choice by choosing a female to protect John Connor rather than a male. Lena Headey was also perfect for the role as Sarah Connor. Been a fan since her performance in the film 300.

8 Random Facts

Reggie tagged me over at fragileheart.com so I felt I had to hook her up. I haven’t done one of these in awhile so bear with me as I make my attempt.

The Rules:

1. Each player starts with 8 random facts/habits about themselves.
2. Write a blog post about their own 8 random things, and post these rules.

4. Don’t forget to leave them a comment and tell them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

My 8 Random facts/habits:

1. I love to sing. I’m a bit shy, but once I get on the mic, I can really wail. I used to frequent Karaoke bars a lot to sing, but I don’t really care for the smoke filled environment. I was also in a R&B and Reggae band called 7milesdown. Guess you know where I got my domain name from now.

2. I own a pitbull terrier and his name is Trench. He’ll be two years old in September and he sports a blue gray coat. I often get remarks that he is not a real pitbull because of his coloration, but he’s part of the family now and we love him very much. He is a Razors Edge pitbull and was bred here on Guam.

3. I own two Scions. A 2005 tC and 2005 xA. My wife drives the xA which is pretty basic besides the 18′s its running on. We love the gas mileage we get on the car, but she really wants a Toyota Camry. Hopefully I can get her one sometime next year.

The tC is pretty hooked up. It sports a ground kit, TRD exhaust system, tein lowering kit, and a few other extras. Its a 5 speed. I’m not sure what my future plans are with the vehicle, but I’ve been eying the Infiniti G37 ever since I’ve seen it over the internet. The new Chevy Camaro is calling for me as well.

4. I am a huge gym rat. I love the gym. It has become a second home for me. If I don’t lift weights and get some cardio in at least four to five times a week, I actually feel sick. I spend at least a couple hours a day hitting the weights.

5. I love playing Warcraft III and Halo 2. I recently just got back on Halo 2 and I’m addicted yet again. I’m fairly rusty, but I’m slowly getting it back. My gamertag is SYR4LIFE if your interested in adding me to your list of friends. I’m also a huge fan of Warcraft III “The Frozen Throne”. I have not really touched World of Warcraft because I think it will take too much time out of my life. I’ve had friends spend over 12 hours a day on that game. Thats not for me. I try to limit myself to a couple hours a day except on the weekends. ;)

6. I’m a movie collector. I have a ton of DVD’s. I’ve collected more of the oldies than the new releases. I own practically every notable fantasy, sci-fi, and gangster flick out there. I need to start my collection of war films now.

7. Currently, my favorite author is George R. R. Martin. He wrote the series A Song of Ice and Fire. Here are some good summaries about the series I found over the internet. Hopefully A Dance with Dragons will be released on time. I need a new book to read. Its been awhile.

8. Finally I’m the admin on three online forums. Shoyoroll, otekguam, and TitaniumWG. Can you imagine when I first started coding I was simply trying to customize a page for my blackplanet website back in 2001. haha. Now I’m administrating sites and communities. How times have changed.
