The latest trailer for The Expendables came out on spike yesterday and I was shocked at the plethora of male action stars making appearances in this flick. We got Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis, Dolph Lundgren, Steve Austin, Randy Couture, and even Arnold Schwarzenegger (named trench in this film! haha) all making appearances. How come no one called Jean-Claude Van Damme? haha… I’m definitely interested in watching how this film plays itself out.

Expendable: capable of being sacrificed in order to accomplish a military objective.

THE EXPENDABLES is a hard-hitting action/thriller about a group of mercenaries hired to infiltrate a South American country and overthrow its ruthless dictator. Once the mission begins, the men realize things arent quite as they appear, finding themselves caught in a dangerous web of deceit and betrayal. AVPR: Aliens vs. Predator – Requiem (DVD)

aliens_vs_predator_requiem_ver4What the hell happened to these two awesome franchises? Aliens was such a great film when it first debuted back in the mid-nineteen eighties. It was one of those horror flicks that put you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. Predator was a great film as well. One of the best Arnold Schwarzenegger movies ever.

As for this latest spinoff? Aliens vs. Predator Requiem was just horrible. No character development, no plot, no suspense, no drama, no action, no chicks, no… You get the picture? Nothing in this film is worth watching. I’d easily rate this film a one which is the worst of my ratings, but I feel so horrible doing so because I was such a huge fanboy of both these two franchises growing up as a child.

My recommendation? Dont waste your time with this film. Its total garbage. I think Paki Punu’s Dragonwars might be just a tad better than this one.

Batman Begins (Theater)

batman_begins_ver4The Batman film that I’ve been waiting for! The Dark Knight we know as Batman has arisen from the depths of the mediocre. The last time I saw Batman, he was a hero with nipples on his chest who was fighting the evil Arnorld Schwarzenegger dressed up as a freeze popcicle. The films Batman Forever and Batman and Robin should have never existed. Those two films basically destroyed the batman series. After two good films “Batman” and “Batman Returns“, the franchise took a dive into the abyss.

Batman Begins is basically a reboot of the series. A 2nd chance at “classic” status in the movie industry. With Christian Bale leading the helm as the new batman, I will rank this film as the best of the Batman Motion Pictures thus far. There has already been confimations of a sequel in 2008.

Christopher Nolan! You’ve finally done Batman Justice!

Note: Watch Equilibrium. It was one of Bale’s best films prior to his casting in this one.
