Stardust (DVD)
Stardust was a truly entertaining and magical film. Although it started off a bit slow in the beginning, the film picked up very nicely as it progressed and never let up afterwards.
The storyline itself seemed a little busy as it took quite a number of different directions at once, but director Matthew Vaughn seemed to be able to weave all the elements and mini plots into a nicely drawn out climatic ending.
The strongest point in the film was definitely its cast. Newcomer Charlie Cox was perfect for his role as Tristan in the movie, while Claire Danes and Robert DeNiro provided the humor and emotional substance as his supporting cast. Michelle Pfeiffer easily stole the show as the evil witch in the film, and without her wickedly sexy smile and demeanor, this movie would definitely be lacking a superstar villain.
Stardust is a great “couples” film. Grab your special someone and be ready for a magical adventure into a world of magic and everlasting love.
Synopsis:
“Stardust,” based on the best-selling graphic novel by Neil Gaiman and Charles Vess, takes audiences on an adventure that begins in a village in England and ends up in places that exist in an imaginary world. A young man named Tristan tries to win the heart of Victoria, the beautiful but cold object of his desire, by going on a quest to retrieve a fallen star. His journey takes him to a mysterious and forbidden land beyond the walls of his village. On his odyssey, Tristan finds the star, which has transformed into a striking girl named Yvaine.
However, Tristan is not the only one seeking the star. A king’s four living sons – not to mention the ghosts of their three dead brothers – all need the star as they vie for the throne. Tristan must also overcome the evil witch, Lamia, who needs the star to make her young again. As Tristan battles to survive these threats, encountering a pirate named Captain Shakespeare and a shady trader named Ferdy the Fence along the way, his quest changes. He must now win the heart of the star for himself as he discovers the meaning of true love.
