Alvin and the Chipmunks (DVD)

alvin_and_the_chipmunks_ver3I consider Alvin and the Chipmunks to be a solid “family” film. It was not overly vulgar compared to other family films I’ve watched in the past, and the chipmunks were actually very adorable characters. Theodore in particular made quite an impression on my wife and I could hear her mouthing “awwww” practically everytime he appeared on screen.

The storyline was very basic and straight forward, and most children should understand the message behind it. This is definitely one of those feel good films which doesn’t require a complex plot to be enjoyable. I went really nostalgic when I heard some of the classic chipmunk tunes played, and was quite pleased with the chipmunks and their updated repertoire of music.

This would easily be a film I would allow my young nephews and nieces to watch alone without feeling worrisome and there are very few scenes if any that are objectionable for a family audience.

Synopsis:

ATC-020Alvin and the Chipmunks, a global treasure that has delighted three generations of fans, comes to the big screen for the first time. The live-action/CGI motion picture event brings together the celebrated history of its beloved characters - Dave Seville and singing chipmunks Alvin, Simon and Theodore - adding a new comic sensibility and edge. The squeaky-voiced trio and Dave Seville made recording, broadcasting and merchandising history - selling 43 million albums, winning several Grammys®, and headlining an animated prime time series, numerous TV specials, and a top-rated Saturday morning series seen in over 100 countries and translated into 40 languages. 4. Me too… they’re all so ‘awww’. (Another) One of my favourite reasons for loving the movie Almost Famous is because Alvin the Chipmunks sings one of the songs in the movie. hehehe Was this movie in the theatres?

  • The Spirit (Latest Theatrical Trailer) -#

spirit_ver10Adapted from the Will Eisner's graphic novels, "The Spirit" tells the story of a man who fakes his own death and fights crime from the shadows of Central City. The Octopus (Samuel L. Jackson) -- who kills anyone unfortunate enough to see his face -- has other plans. He's going to wipe out the entire city. The Spirit tracks this coldhearted killer from the city's rundown warehouses, to the damp catacombs, to the windswept waterfront...all the while facing a bevy of beautiful women who either want to seduce, love or kill the masked crusader.

kimbo_slice_elite_xcI've been in a pick'em league over at S2 to I figured I post my selections here on the site during each mixed martial art event.

As much as I would like to see Kimbo get a loss it wont happen versus Shamrock. Shamrock's going to try and prove a point and stand and bang and he's going to eat fist. lol. Did anyone see the weigh in's for Gina Carano? She had to bear all to make weight!

    My predictions:
    Kimbo Slice - KO1
    Jake Shields-KO R2
    Andre Arlovski-KO R1
    Gina Carano- Sub R2
    Murilo "Ninja" Rua-KO R3
    Yoko - Sub R1
