Floyd Mayweather “Self Proclaimed Greatest”
I couldn’t help but laugh when I ran into this cover while browsing flickr earlier this morning. It stated, “Floyd Mayweather has convinced himself he is the greatest fighter ever!”
Hey kudos for being so confident in yourself, but your not even the greatest boxer ever, let alone the greatest fighter ever. I find it difficult to even rank him among the Top 10 greatest boxers of all time. Legendary fighters like Roberto Duran, Sugar Ray Lenard, Marvin Hagler, Julio Cesar Chavez, Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, and so forth have all done bigger and better things than this kid has.
Mayweather is an incredible fighter, but proclaiming yourself “The greatest fighter ever” is a complete joke. I hope he is limiting it to boxing too. He should have stated he was the greatest fighter in the boxing world today instead. That would have sounded a bit more modest.
A few months ago, I had read rumors about Mark Cuban offering Mayweather a shot at the mixed martial arts scene. Heres what his father Floyd Mayweather Sr. had to say.
World-renowned trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. had a lot to say about the recent rumors of his son possibly entering the sport of mixed martial arts. “They ain’t going to need a referee because he’s going to tap his own self out,” he stated as he made it clear that Lil Floyd would be making a big mistake.
More funny quotes from dad: Taken from: FIGHTHYPE
Lil Floyd about to get his ass tore up man. He ain’t about to whoop them motherfuckers. He can forget that shit! I wouldn’t even try to fight none of them sons of a bitches.
Them 5 ounce gloves too; not 10 ounce? That’s like your damn fist. Those gloves ain’t no bigger than your fucking hand. He could be as quick as he wants to be, when they hit them legs, your ass coming down.
Mayweather would definitely have a punchers chance, but a couple inside leg kicks and a double leg and tie clinch followed by knees would make him wish he was wearing his ten ounce gloves, boxing shorts, and throwing jabs in a ring instead.

you have no idea what you are talking about, mma and ufc is full of failed and over the hill retired boxers, get a grip! why would floyd wanna fight in that sport when its not as respected as boxing and it would take him a decade to earn what he would earn in one boxing match at the MGM grand, shush up crank! go practice grapling with your friends

He’s calling himself the greatest fighter ever. Read the post! Mayweather wouldn’t last in MMA and he knows it. His father knows it. Mixed Martial Arts is the “REAL” combat sport. Boxing is not even half of “REAL” fighting. Yes ex-boxers participate and are successful in MMA, but they dont go touting themselves the best fighters in the world and expect to go into the ring and walk all over everyone. Even the best MMA fighters have lost. Why? Because its any man’s game in MMA. Its not like boxing where you run around throwing jabs and worry only about just two hands. MMA requires total concentration because a strike can come from ANYWHERE! Real fighting!!!
They also learn to grapple, something you seem to think is for the birds based on your comments. Mayweather makes it sound as if he can just fight MMA with the skillset his has now. A boxer has only a punchers chance and in reality wouldn’t last a minute with today’s mixed martial arts practitioners. Guys like BJ Penn and Sean Sherk would wipe the floor with Mayweather in their weight class.
Your comments about grappling? Completely Naive. Thats just one aspect of MMA. They incorporate kickboxing, jiujitsu, boxing, and many other forms of martial arts to come up with the complete fighting machine.
Tell me Mr. Jason. How many fights have you seen in real life that involve standing on your feet. Real fights always go to the ground unless its an early knockout.
Sounds as if your one of those “OVER THE HILL” boxing fans who cant get a grip that MMA is the next generation combat sport while boxing is a dying breed.
