Hitman (Theaters)

hitman_ver3This was just one of those films I decided to watch on a whim and it was a decent choice for a Sunday matinée.

For those of us who have played Hitman, we know Agent 47 as a bad ass with a “No Mercy” attitude. He never take prisoners, misses his targets, or feels sympathy for anyone. He is a human machine manufactured for one simple reason. To Kill.

The movie had its strong points and its weak points. The weakest area of the film was definitely its plot. It was very simple and predictable. There was really nothing left to the imagination and you clearly knew who was going to win each and every fight. I guess thats to be expected when you create a film based on a video game.

The mood of the film fit the movie perfectly, although I had wished it could have been a bit more on the darker side. More of a Sin City type atmosphere.

The actors played their roles fairly well. 47 was played by Timothy Olyphant, and he did the best he could in portraying the assassin. There was a bit too much dialogue from 47 which is not typical if we follow the character from the video game, but much of it was added humor the movie needed when it felt like it was beginning to slow down. Olyphant’s co-star Olga Kurylenko was pretty damn hot too. Yes, I know we should be talking about her acting itself, but she was just pure eye candy throughout the movie and that was enough to give her a great rating in the film. Her nude scenes were a nice touch too. *wink*

Although the plot was simple, the movie was one of the better video game to big screen adaptations I have seen in awhile. The fans of the Hitman will either love it or hate it. It really depends on how important the accuracy of the film is to them. I thought the film was worth the matinée price, but I would have probably thought differently if I paid for a regular showing instead.

Synopsis:

An international assassin known only as Agent 47 (Timothy Olyphant) carries out high-profile hits for a mysterious organization known only as “The Agency” in this adaptation of the popular Eidos Interactive video-game series.

The movie wasn’t that bad… I wish it had more violence and less talking, like the games.

Love or hate it? I guess for a game turned movie, that’s good enough. I’m familiar with the game years ago but never really got hooked to it. Nice review once again

The golden compass is definitely on my agenda. I had planned on watching Beowulf, but I’ve heard nothing but bad comments about it.

I just watched this movie the other night myself. I thought it was fairly decent but there were some pretty lame moments. That seems to be the trouble with most new movies though - The plot is bad but the acting is good. The plot is good - but the acting is bad. We rarely see any movies where both of those key things are killer awesome anymore. I do have some hope for Beowulf though and The Golden Compass.
