OTEK’s Trenchtown Mobstah (RazorsEdge Pitbull)

trench19months

Trench is officially 19 months old today. You can see more of his photos in my flickr gallery. He has started to thicken out nicely, and with all the exercise we been having, he’s starting to look shredded as well. I’m thinking of getting him involved in the weight pull event once he turns two years. The guys here on Guam are planning to get a sled and track for one of our upcoming 671 Bully Club gatherings, and if I can get him a bit more socialized around other dogs, he should perform very well.

As far as my experience is with my very first pitbull, I can tell you that he has been a handful. He has destroyed just about everything I can think of. This has included our cars, light fixtures, and plants around the house. He is learning what he can and cannot play with, but man what a costly learning experience for us both! lol.

He’s also got into scuffles with our other dogs and neighbors pets as well. This has made me become much more aware of what his requirements are and the importance of monitoring him better when we are outside and he is off his leash. If I catch him once his aggressiveness starts, he’ll simply stop and run back to me at my command. Once he gets involved in a scuffle, it becomes much more difficult to control him and this is where you need to be EDUCATED with the proper methods of dealing with the situation. I still don’t know everything about handling a fight, so I never leave him unattended.

Is this type of dog for everyone? Certainly not. It’s a very loyal, strong, and active dog, but it takes a lot of patience and RESPONSIBILITY to own one. These dogs are great, but only if your willing to spend time with them and educate yourself properly before owning one.

I’m not much of a dog person (or even cat person, now that I’m used to not having a pet around), but Trench is looking big and strong. =)
