Iverson to Denver

IversonAllen Iverson, the #1 overall pick in the 1996 NBA draft, and the 76ers franchise player for over a decade, has been traded to the Denver Nuggets for Andre Miller, Joe Smith, and two first round draft picks. Although Iverson is known for his huge heart and toughness on the hardwood, he has also had a very rocky career. Several arrests and disagreements with coaches have made him headlines in the past. Throughout all his troubles however, he still managed to win four NBA scoring titles and appear in the all-star game seven times. He also lead the USA Olympic basketball team to a bronze metal in 2004.

Iverson now takes his legacy to Mile High City. Although he is a step slower than he was earlier in his career, he is still a very lethal scorer and can break ankles at will. What Iverson needs to realize however is that he is no longer the first option for his new team. That honor goes to Carmelo Anthony the NBA’s current scoring leader. Anthony however has been suspended for fifteen games for a recent brawl he was involved in with the New York Knicks, so Iverson may enter into his familiar role as the primary scorer until Melo’s return sometime mid-January.

Personally, I think this was a great move by Denver and a terrible move by the Sixers. The Nuggets added to their arsenal another scorer who will take the load of Melo and is capable of passing the ball as well as creating his own shot. They also kept their core group of players and in return received a future hall of famer.

The sixers on the other hand received a good point guard in Andre Miller and a underachieving injury ridden Joe Smith. They also received two first round draft picks, but the draft never guarantees anything.

In the past Philly has traded NBA superstars Charles Barkley and Wilt Chamberlain which both placed Philly at the losing end of the stick. It looks like they may be headed back to the lottery yet again with this lopsided trade. I really believe that the Sixers should have held out and waited out for a better deal.

  1. Man, I really can never ever be a basketball fan.
Haha! I mean, I don’t have any problem watching a game.. but.. to be classified as a fan.. nah. Not interested enough I guess.

And I know this comment isn’t really a comment. Hahaha!!! Sorry.

  2. Wow that is some news. I remember hating him because of his arrogance, but mostly because he had every right to be so arrogant. The boy is good.

  3. I thought it was a dumb move for the sixers also. I guess we’ll see how it goes, but yeah, who the hell are the nuggets to pick him up…

Who knows, maybe they just wanted to get rid of him because of all the drama he causes them.

Oh yeah, still can’t believe the US got a freakin bronze metal. They ought to be ashamed.

  4. i’m so glad he was traded. the city of phildelphia doesn’t deserve him. they have had so many good football and basketball players and they just bitch and moan and they never know how lucky they are. i hope denver will appreciate more for the great player that he is.

  5. Im sure Denver will appreciate a player of his caliber added to their roster for virtually nothing. It will be interesting to see the combo of the NBA’s leading scorers take the court together.

spirit_ver10Adapted from the Will Eisner's graphic novels, "The Spirit" tells the story of a man who fakes his own death and fights crime from the shadows of Central City. The Octopus (Samuel L. Jackson) -- who kills anyone unfortunate enough to see his face -- has other plans. He's going to wipe out the entire city. The Spirit tracks this coldhearted killer from the city's rundown warehouses, to the damp catacombs, to the windswept waterfront...all the while facing a bevy of beautiful women who either want to seduce, love or kill the masked crusader.

kimbo_slice_elite_xcI've been in a pick'em league over at S2 to I figured I post my selections here on the site during each mixed martial art event.

As much as I would like to see Kimbo get a loss it wont happen versus Shamrock. Shamrock's going to try and prove a point and stand and bang and he's going to eat fist. lol. Did anyone see the weigh in's for Gina Carano? She had to bear all to make weight!

    My predictions:
    Kimbo Slice - KO1
    Jake Shields-KO R2
    Andre Arlovski-KO R1
    Gina Carano- Sub R2
    Murilo "Ninja" Rua-KO R3
    Yoko - Sub R1
