Pirates of the Caribbean-Dead Mans Chest (Theaters)
I was not overly impressed with the 2nd installment of Pirates of the Caribbean. Dead Man’s Chest was nowhere close to being as good as the original Curse of the Black Pearl.
The good? The production was fantastic. Disney spent a pretty penny. The pirates were filthy, the scenes were exotic, and the CGI was awesome. Everything we could expect from a blockbuster summer film. The main characters all returned and they performed their roles exceptionally well.
The bad? The screenplay wasn’t very good. It dragged in many parts I lost track of what was going on. I think that the movie was just too long and they could have definately done without a few scenes.
Overall, the movie was a average one. It wasn’t anything to rave about, but its definately a film the entire family can enjoy. Any fan of the first film should definately catch this in theaters. Plus, the movie makes it clear that a third installment is on its way!
Synopsis:
Once again thrown into the world of the supernatural, Captain Jack Sparrow finds out that he owes a blood debt to the legendary Davey Jones, Captain of the ghostly Flying Dutchman. With time running out, Jack must find a way out of his debt or else be doomed to eternal damnation and servitude in the afterlife. And as if this weren’t enough, the Captain’s problems manage to wreck the wedding plans of a certain Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann, who are forced to join Jack on yet another misadventure.
