Elizabethtown (DVD)

Im not a big fan of chick flicks, but I promised my wife a movie of her choosing for Valentines Day. (without falling asleep) Since it was a promise, I sat down and watched Elizabethtown with her. To my surprise, it was actually a pretty good movie.

As I sit here trying to write this review, Im really at a loss for words. The movie is something that you feel, not something you can really explain first hand in writing. I think people who watch this film will come out with different meanings behind it. I really recommend this film for those who appreciate a good story and underlying meaning to it. It really helped me examine myself as a person and look deeper into the real meaning living. I still cant understand how so many people gave this movie a bad rating. Im telling you, dont listen to the critics. Grab a date , your girlfriend, or wife and watch this film. I really enjoyed it.

After causing the Oregon shoe company he works for to lose hundreds of millions of dollars, Drew Baylor is fired for his mistake, and promptly also dumped by his girlfriend, Ellen. On the verge of suicide, Drew is oddly given a new purpose in life when he is brought back to his family’s small Kentucky hometown of Elizabethtown following the death of his father, Mitch, as it falls to him to make sure that his dying wishes are fulfilled. On the way home, Drew meets a flight attendant, Claire Colburn(Dunst), with whom he falls in love, in a romance that helps his life get back on track.

  1. After I just told my mother I heard it sucked, now I may have to watch it just to see.

What’s up with the design? Heck, I think you change designs quicker than I do…well not really.

  5. I liked the movie too, after being sure I’d not. It’s comforting to see someone else experienced it similarly.

  6. Hey… I demand you to bring back the old layout! I liked the colors on it! LOL and I’m usually not big on black layouts but that one rocked!

Well now that you gave this movie such a good review, I will give it a second chance. I blew it off a few days ago when I went to rent a ton of new releases at blockbuster. My best friend suggested it and I said, “eh! I haven’t heard good things about it.” I walked right by it. Next time I’ll pick it up.

See the power you have? haha

spirit_ver10Adapted from the Will Eisner's graphic novels, "The Spirit" tells the story of a man who fakes his own death and fights crime from the shadows of Central City. The Octopus (Samuel L. Jackson) -- who kills anyone unfortunate enough to see his face -- has other plans. He's going to wipe out the entire city. The Spirit tracks this coldhearted killer from the city's rundown warehouses, to the damp catacombs, to the windswept waterfront...all the while facing a bevy of beautiful women who either want to seduce, love or kill the masked crusader.

kimbo_slice_elite_xcI've been in a pick'em league over at S2 to I figured I post my selections here on the site during each mixed martial art event.

As much as I would like to see Kimbo get a loss it wont happen versus Shamrock. Shamrock's going to try and prove a point and stand and bang and he's going to eat fist. lol. Did anyone see the weigh in's for Gina Carano? She had to bear all to make weight!

    My predictions:
    Kimbo Slice - KO1
    Jake Shields-KO R2
    Andre Arlovski-KO R1
    Gina Carano- Sub R2
    Murilo "Ninja" Rua-KO R3
    Yoko - Sub R1
