Sky High (Theaters)

sky_highThis is a special review done by my roomate Kalani. He used to do all the movie reviews for an old portal I had running. His reviews are always well done. I think he writes 100 times better than I do. I haven’t seen the film, but I posted that I was going to watch it. Unfortunately it wasnt in the cards. Alot of people were asking about it, so I decided to have Kalani post one for me. Enjoy.

Before you rush to see this movie based on my humble recommendation, you should first understand my rationale behind it. This is a family film. The target audience is the little boogers that can’t afford to pay for themselves and beg mommy and daddy to watch the movie. On the surface it is easy to question why this movie is worth your time. It’s a coming-of-age movie. It’s obvious how these end. It’s also a super hero story, so you can imagine how predictable the majority of the plot will be. For sure, the special effects will keep young viewers enthralled. The child actors aren’t bad either. There isn’t anything really objectionable in this film if you are worried about your child’s young impressionable mind possibly being corrupted.

The reason why this movie won’t suck for the 20+ crowd is the adult cast. Kurt Russell with all his portrayed ego and puffed up macho-ness seems to be the perfect actor for his role. Kelly Preston’s amazing curves provide for some great eye candy. Bruce Campbell plays a loud-mouth badass like only he can. And all I can say about Lynda Carter being cast as the principal of the super hero school? Sweet! Although very predictable, the plot does offer a few unexpected developments to keep the story at least semi-amusing.

If you’re footing the bill for a matinee show and you have kids in tow, this movie is worth the investment. “Sky High” is no “Batman Begins”, but it was never intended to be anything like it. 4 out of 5 stars for what it is meant to be.

  1. Whew! I’m glad this movie isn’t too bad for the 20 crowd as my children are begging to go see it.

00Another great episode by Manswers. Every man should be getting their other half to start drinking beer daily. One full cup size from drinking something all men love? What a perfect alternative to breast implants! Start chugging away ladies! A full size "C" cup is calling your name!

  • The Spirit (Latest Theatrical Trailer) -#

spirit_ver10Adapted from the Will Eisner's graphic novels, "The Spirit" tells the story of a man who fakes his own death and fights crime from the shadows of Central City. The Octopus (Samuel L. Jackson) -- who kills anyone unfortunate enough to see his face -- has other plans. He's going to wipe out the entire city. The Spirit tracks this coldhearted killer from the city's rundown warehouses, to the damp catacombs, to the windswept waterfront...all the while facing a bevy of beautiful women who either want to seduce, love or kill the masked crusader.

kimbo_slice_elite_xcI've been in a pick'em league over at S2 to I figured I post my selections here on the site during each mixed martial art event.

As much as I would like to see Kimbo get a loss it wont happen versus Shamrock. Shamrock's going to try and prove a point and stand and bang and he's going to eat fist. lol. Did anyone see the weigh in's for Gina Carano? She had to bear all to make weight!

    My predictions:
    Kimbo Slice - KO1
    Jake Shields-KO R2
    Andre Arlovski-KO R1
    Gina Carano- Sub R2
    Murilo "Ninja" Rua-KO R3
    Yoko - Sub R1
