I want my MTV!

Perhaps many of you who read my blog are too young to remember the “real” Music Televison. The orginal MTV. Music videos were played nearly 24 hours a day. Yes, you heard it right! 24 hours a day! Now they show clips of videos (not even full ones) on TRL and during the late night hours when everyone is sleeping.

I thought that MTV stood for Music Television, but the past few years its become more like the Reality Garbage Network. They really should change MTV to The RG Network, or somthing of that nature. I still enjoy watching Music Videos but it seems that they are few and in between. You really have to look a the MTV schedule to catch some quality videos. Perhaps the alternative used to be VH1, but even that channel is starting to play more “shows” than “music”. As a fan since the 1980’s, I have to say that concept for MTV has been thrown out the door for quite a number of years now.

MTV still has some decent shows such as Cribs and Pimp my Ride (I’ve always been curious to see how the big dawgs live), but overall the station has become a network full of junk. I can still remember growing up and watching music videos all day long. Watching the Astronaut put the MTV flag on the Moon. Remember that? They had entertaining shows such as Remote Control and Yo MTV Raps, but the channel focus was still Music. I guess every good thing has to come to an end…..

  1. I totally agree. MTV has completely lost their original focus, which was the music.
