The Return of the Mac!

Personally, I’m really looking forward Nintendo’s latest release of the classic boxing game Punch Out! on the Wii Fit. I’ve never been a huge Nintendo player (I went from all the Sega consoles to the Xbox), but I may just pick up a Wii for Christmas after learning about the release of this title. I was such a huge fan of the original Mike Tyson Punch Out which I used to play religiously on the Micro Genius. After watching all the trailers and seeing Glass Joe and Hippo return for another showdown, it definitely brought back a certain degree of nostalgia for me.

As rumored, Nintendo today revived a fan favorite from the arcade and NES days at its Japanese press conference. Yes, Punch-Out!! is coming to Wii, sometime in 2009 to be exact. In the meantime, here are some screens to entice the senses and wax nostalgic until we learn more.

Most watched Cartoons of the 1980′s

These were the cartoon’s I’d rush home to watch after school. I’d take the T.V. Guide and highlight all the shows and times so I wouldn’t miss them. Personally, I feel I had the privilege of growing up in the greatest decade of animated television. I can’t see any of the cartoons of this generation coming close to the stuff we had back in our day.

G.I. Joe

“A Real American Hero” It was America vs. The COBRA Organization. The most memorable character for me was Cobra Commander. That eerie laugh of his is unforgettable and recognizable anywhere. The infamous Dreadnocks from the swamps were pretty cool as well and I think it was Zartan who could blend in with the swamp?? Let’s not forget Golobulus and the Cobra La faction. Golobulus’s flying bodyguard Nemesis Enforcer was a beast! He kicked major tail until he met up with Sgt. Slaughter who I thought was overrated! lol. Other favorites of mine included Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, Roadblock, Gung-Ho, Mercer, Tunnel Rat, Destro, and all COBRA’s Viper teams. Ninja looking soldiers were just too damn cool!

In the 1980′s I was infatuated with Madonna!

MadonnaDoes anyone else remember just how hot Madonna was when she broke into the music scene back in 1983? My infatuation with her actually began after watching the “Like a Virgin” video on MTV. Looking back, I had to be no older than six or seven years old at the time.

Although I probably shouldn’t have been watching MTV at that age, I managed to catch quite a number of her music videos and even watched her acting debut in Desperately Seeking Susan. For the next few years I remember cutting out any pictures I found of her while posting them alongside Weird Science actress Kelly Lebrock. I will confess that Madonna was the woman who kicked off my crazy hormonal stage at an early age. Her video’s were just so erotic at the time and once you watched it, you couldn’t get enough of her.

Of course as I aged and Madonna’s videos got stranger, my attention was diverted toward girls my age rather than the Material Girl. I continued to follow her music fairly religiously but after the True Blue album, I completely lost interest. Anyway, while browsing the web today, I ran across a report that Madonna was turning 50 on August 16th. How time flies huh?

Happy Birthday Madonna! I’ll always remember you as that sexy Material Girl! ;)
