Lose that Gut- Week Five

After five grueling weeks of cardio, weight training, and diet, the sacrifice is finally starting to payoff. I didnt expect my abs to start showing this early, but Im so glad it did. I was starting to lose faith in the diet program I was on, and I thought about quitting on a couple of occasions.

I was going to post a photo of my stomach area in week one, but thats just too damn embarassing. I could not believe I looked like that without a shirt. I used to walk around the beach with that gut hanging out too! The gut was a product of alot of beer drinking and rice eating! Since I’ve cut those two “comforts” of out my diet, I’ve been seeing a rapid improvement in my mid-section area.

Its funny to think that at one point in college I weighed just 130 pounds. It feels really good to look at my abs again! I miss you guys! I cant wait for the results by week ten! Hopefully going back to work next month wont slow down my diet too much. I’ll keep everyone posted on my progress.

Pacific Xtreme Combat VII- Eruption

Update: Here’s the streaming video from KUAM sports. Shows only the best highlights from the event.

Mix Martial Arts has become the biggest sporting event on Guam this decade. PXC 7 Eruption will showcase some of the best local fighters Guam has to offer. I am the webmaster for shoyoroll.com and the fans are going crazy over this card. In the past, most of the fights pitted Guam Boy vs. Guam Boy. In this event, FIVE fights will feature Guam vs. The USA bouts. (They are highlighted below)

Dan Dan Elliot vs Brandon Martinez (above 205)
Wenyu Bamba vs Mike Saralu (160)
Chris Duenas vs Eddie Belen (150)
Joe Taimanglo vs Chico Cantiberos (145)
Alex Castro vs Kyle Miyahana (155)
Ryan Biggler vs Adam Asue (165)
Chris Brub vs Corey Daniels (205
)

Main Event PXC Heavyweight Championship
Manny Chong vs Eric Tedtaotao (above 205)

The biggest fight vs. a non-local will feature Guam’s Chris Brub vs. Hawaii’s Corey Daniels. Many local MMA fans have all been waiting for Brub to return to the ring especially after the withdrawal of his last opponent Riki Fukuda from the KillerBee gym in Japan.

I was really disappointed when I paid for V.I.P. tickets only to find out a Brub vs. Fukuda matchup was not on the card. He is one of my favorite fighters to watch and this time his fight at ERUPTION is guaranteed.

The biggest local fight of the night is definately the main event. Manny Chong is a well respected veteran of Mix Martial Arts events on Guam. His biggest match was probrably against Wesley “CABBAGE” Correira. In that bout he was at least 40 pounds lighter than cabbage and about 4 inches shorter. He did lose against the bigger cabbage but he still came out to fight with alot of heart.

Manny Chong’s opponent is no pushover either. Eric “The Terror” Tedtaotao is a member of the elite Underworld Xtreme Fight Team and comes into this match undefeated. You can bet he is tryin to put another “W” in the win column. Im predicting a knockout in this fight. It just comes down to who wants it more.

I also want to wish Chris “Supernatural” Duenas the best of luck. Our pitbull kennels are on of his sponsors. His is in the photo to the right. If your at the event, look out for are limited edition SUPERNATURAL shirts on our backs! See you at fight night! GO GUAM!!!

The World Series of Poker 2006

I’ve always been a big fan of playin cards. In college I was a huge spades and pasoi player. I could start a game at 9pm and end the next morning around 6am. That has not changed a bit. The only thing that has changed is the type of game I play. Lately, its been all Texas Holdem. It seems to be the game of choice today.

Guam’s very own Santino Sgambelluri recently won the Paradise Poker Championships (Holdem Tourney) in the Bahamas, and he is now being sponsored to enter the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas this June. This is just huge for Guam. Im pretty sure he is the first from our island. A $10,000 buy-in with a chance to earn millions. I think the photo above is a aussie who won 7.5 million dollars at one of the holdem tourneys. What a rush it must be! I wish you the best of luck Santino! Six Seven One Represent!
