News Theme Giveaway

As many of my regular readers have already noticed, I have decided to give 7milesdown a massive overhaul and facelift. After a little over a year with the fantastic NEWS theme by Quommunication, it was just time for a change. With this change comes a wonderful opportunity to give back to my fellow readers along with the possibly to acquire a few new ones as well. After careful consideration, I have decided to raffle off my single license NEWS theme (without my personal modifications) rather than re-sell it. As with other blog contest’s I’ve seen across the web, these are the requirements.

Entrecard Explosion?

Yesterday I decided to start using all my credits instead of just letting them sit on my dashboard wasting away. So I went into campaign mode and bought up about 300 ads ranging from 128 ec to 8 ec’s. I woke up this morning to approve comments and drop a few cards and noticed I had twelve advertisements waiting for approval. These ads purchased pushed my blog from a measly 128 credits for advertisement to a whopping 3072 credits overnight! Prior to this my blog would fluctuate between 64 to 512 credits but never any higher.

I’m not sure if its such a good thing to cost so much to advertise on my site. I mean, who in their right mind would spend 3072 credits on a single blog unless it guaranteed you some legitimate traffic right? I send decent traffic to others, but I don’t feel that my blog should cost this much. I just wont be able to reciprocate the traffic back to the buyer.

What are your thoughts about the pricing system? It seems to be flawed in some way. I can’t pinpoint the faults at this point, but shouldn’t the site cost be based on actual traffic rather than how many ads are in que?

BTW, Im sure the costs of advertisement for the site will go back down to the norm of 64 to 512 credits in a couple of days. ;)

Comments down, earnings up?

This blog is hardly a huge money maker, but this month has been quite unusual for me and I felt that I had to share my experience with you all. I’ve been running Adsense for several years now, and its primary purpose has always been for the payment of my hosting and purchasing small items online. This month has been special however, and my page impressions have almost doubled yet my blog has gone unchanged.

What I found odd was the fact that my comments have been way down, yet my page impressions have skyrocketed. As a fan of comments, I’ve actually been quite disappointed with sparse amount I’ve had recently. Sometimes I think the comment function is broken! However, I can’t complain too much because my earnings have been so good. Maybe its just coincidence. I guess I’ll see how things turn out in November. haha.
