Tyson vs. Holyfield III

14472357_2I wasn’t too sure what to make of this announcement when I first read up on it on Yahoo Sports.

Evander Holyfield claims he could meet old foe Mike Tyson for a third time despite both former undisputed world heavyweight champions being in their 40s.

Both Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield are way past their prime years and this “Circus” of a fight will only tarnish their reputations as two of the most feared fighters in the history of sport.

I grew up watching the sport of boxing with my uncles starting in the late 80′s. My favorite heavyweight of all time is definitely Iron Mike. His tenacity and drive was unmatched and he just ripped through his opponents at will. He was really the sole reason I watched heavyweight bouts period. Growing up guys such as Marvelous Marvin Hagler, Sugar Ray Lenard, and Roberto Duran were the headlines of most big boxing events, but with the arrival of Iron Mike, things took a turn or the better in the heavyweight division.

The LA Lakers to the 2008 Finals?

Hawks Lakers BasketballAre you a die hard fan like I am? Do you believe in the resurrection of Showtime? I sure do. I’ve had my back against the wall most of this season defending my Laker squad even when no one else would. Many friends, family, and associates went as far as saying that my Lakers wouldn’t make this post-season. I predicted they would.

As the season went on, the emergence of Andrew Bynum was brought to the attention of everyone I knew. I told them he would take them deep into the playoffs. This prediction changed many of the non-believers statements and they resorted to saying the Lakers wouldn’t get past the first round. My prediction still stands. The Lakers will triumph in the first. Now the non-believers after witnessing the Pau Gasol trade, again made revisions to their “Predictions”. They simply say that my Lakers wont make the finals. I believe they will.

nba_g_dhoward_412BIts a bird, its a plane, its Dwight Howard! Our 2008 NBA All-Star Weekend Slam Dunk Champion!

Howard, sporting one of America’s most celebrated superhero costumes became the Man of Steel for the evening and took flight by performing some of the most athletic and unique dunks in the history of the competition.

“I really wanted to win it because everybody said I couldn’t do it, and I believe in myself and I believe I could do it,” Howard said. “That’s all I was saying in my head. ‘I’m going to win the dunk contest.’”

Congrats to Howard on a well deserved win! The Slam Dunk Competition had lost some of its luster over the years, but he definitely made it the highlight of this years events.
