The Brothers Grimm (DVD)

The Brothers Grimm had some great costumes and the sets were well designed. Thats about as good as The Brothers Grimm got. It was a very strange film and much of the storyline confused me. Actually, I wasnt really sure what direction the movie was taking until the last 30 minutes of so. The story was also extemely slow paced and the acting was just horrible. Where the heck did they get those French accents?

I consider Matt Damon a very talented actor. I’ve enjoyed quite a few of his films. But in this movie, the talent was basically non-existent. Im not too sure if this was the right cast for this of film. Im not even sure this film should ever have been cast period. The acting was just extremly poor and no one gave a good performance. I was not impressed at all. This is one film that I think most people could skip even if it were a free viewing. Its a waste of 90+ minutes.

Folklore collectors and con artists, Jake and Will Grimm, travel from village to village pretending to protect townsfolk from enchanted creatures and performing exorcisms. They are put to the test, however, when they encounter a real magical curse in a haunted forest with real magical beings, requiring genuine courage.

Straight to DVD

Today my wife and I watched two movies from Sony Entertainment straight to DVD collection. Obviously I didnt expect much and my expectations were on the money. These movies were so terrible I fell asleep in the middle of each of them. We slept in today and woke up and decided to pop in Blood of Beasts. Looking at the front cover of the DVD, it definately looked like a knock off of the Lord of the Rings cover. haha. Thats about as close as it ever got to LOTR. The acting was cheesy, the script was a joke, and the special effects… Well, lets just leave that to your imagination. I think I drifted off into la la land about 30 minutes into the movie.

The next film was entitled Black Dawn. The main star of the film was actor Steven Seagal. I have never been a huge fan of his films but he has done decent work in movies such as Hard to Kill and Exit Wounds. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, I popped it into the DVD player. That was the biggest mistake I’ve ever made. I was out cold in about 40 minutes. I woke up and caught 15 or so, and I went right back to sleep. Im not sure if Segal should continue to act. As far as I can tell, his action star days are over. Maybe he should follow in the footsteps of Arnold and run for governor too.

The Keeper of Time (DVD)

This was the first time I actually asked myself, “Why am I still watching this?” I’ve never walked out of a movie, and I almost did it last night. The movie is rated so badly that I could not even find a decent picture to post as my movie screenshot. 90 minutes of pure pain! As agonizing as it was, I sat through the entire flick. I must have laughed from the beginning of the film to the very end. It wasn’t because the movie was funny either. The movie was so incredibly bad you have to laugh at yourself for renting the darn thing. Incredibly bad acting, cheap scenery, even cheaper special effects. It was perhaps the most lame movie I’ve ever watched in my life. I think I would rather watch any movie by PBS than sit through this film again. If you see it in your local video store, avoid it at all costs!

If there are any other films you’ve watched in the past that I may not have seen yet, please post them here and save me more pain!
