More than anything else, this season focuses on the musical development of DAY26. Their journey kicks off with the fresh new single, “Got Me Going,” produced by studio heavyhitter, Mario Winans.

In addition to the aforementioned track, the collection features production from The Runners (T.I., Chris Brown, Rick Ross), Jim Bean, Grammy Award-winner Adonis (Diddy, Usher, Danity Kane), and multiple Grammy Award-winner Bryan Michael Cox (Usher, Mary J. Bob Marley is Back!

bob_marleyAs I was making my rounds on entrecard, I ran into some interesting news on Media Morgue regarding Reggae icon Robert Nesta Marley.

As a huge fan of Marley’s music, I was ecstatic to hear word of an upcoming documentary on his life and legacy. I had heard rumors about an upcoming movie on Marley a couple years back starring Jamie Foxx, but I wasn’t too happy with the casting.

Here’s an excerpt from my previous post on Jamie Foxx as Bob Marley.

Now for the last and the most important problem I see with this casting. The aura that is Bob Marley. The essence. The soul. It can’t be duplicated. You could argue that many people believe that Bob is similar to a messiah. Come to this earth too spread the message of truth, and lead his people away from the chaos which seems to be our lives today. Bob Marley was a very special individual. One in a billion. You can’t act like a savior. You have to live it. Something I think is too big of a challenge even for a talented actor like Foxx to do.

Lets just hope that director Martin Scorsese chooses a cast which will honor Marley in his entirety. I’ll be keeping a close watch.

Crank Dat…Superman…Spiderman…

0807_music_01_souljahOver the past summer, the latest hip hop dance craze on the internet and in the clubs was “Crank Dat” (Soulja Boy) by Soulja Boy himself. With his album set to be released October 2nd, the single has taken the hip hop world by storm. What I found most interesting about all of this soulja boy hype was the number of knockoffs from his Crank dat Soulja Boy dance routine. I’m really not a fan of his music, but I’ll admit to dancing to his stuff when half drunk and out to have a good time.

Here are several links to knockoff “Crank Dat” dances for your viewing pleasure. Im pretty sure there are many more, but this is what I searched on myspace the past couple minutes.

    Crank dat Spiderman
    Crank dat Batman
    Crank dat Ryu
    Crank dat Iceman
    Crank dat Yank
    Crank dat Yank/Forrest Gump
    Crank dat Lion King
    Crank dat 360

Regardless of what anyone thinks, no one can deny that this is the hip hop dance craze and song of the year so far. I can’t think of any other artist who had this much influence with a single and a dance to go along with it. Now that his album is in stores, we’ll finally see if he’s just another one hit wonder or a legitimate face in the hip hop world.
