I thought that too prior to watching the movie but other than both races being alien, there are not really any similarities. The prawns are not slaves, rather they are more like POWs.

Part of the plot sounds, well familiar. An alien slave ship crashes in the desert. That’s Alien Nation, a movie and (later) TV show from about 20 years ago. But this has a huge twist from Alien Nation. The Newcomers are not assimilated, they are kept in slavery. They look less human. Great idea.

Good movie for a first time director working with what he got. 4 stars for me. Never was bored but IMO it lacked the suspense I was hoping for. I’d comment more on that but it’ll give away the ending. I see this movie getting the Hollywood treatment and remade maybe 10-15 years from now. This movie is in my top 3 for the summer so far.

Such interesting look into racism, slavery and the workings of the government all mashed into one…I definitely recommend this movie..!!
