You finally decided to show up on 7milesdown! haha. Always good to see new faces on the site. You watch more movies than I do, and your honesty on the comments are great! Hope to see you more often!

star wars? yuck! star wars to me is all bullshit pseudo-politics.

star trek has really always had weak movie plots and if it was changed then the fans woulda looked at this movie differently. it goes the same for this one but, i loved it. i love how it ties in the original spock to the current spock. i like how kirk's character was developed(though there coulda been more- but then it woulda been a longer movie). i like Spock's story development- his struggle to be "true" vulcan and yet, the his true humanity and character shows in the way he "loves" his mother.
this story has so many layers and message but what i took of it is that life overall and the memories we create/experience is above all, most important. that same argument would go with, the "bad guy's" character and his reasoning.

there are no bad guys in this movie. there are only reasons why.

@ Film book: Maybe your skills of detection are much sharper than mine. I could see that the clues were hinting towards the boss' implication, but I didn't know all the details of how he was involved. I don't think many people were able to pick up on everything. To call it a twist or not is pretty much arguing over semantics. I'll just leave it at " the end took away from the rest of the movie for me."

Not better than Star Trek? Wow. You have got the blinders on.
One of the movies forces you to think AND dazzles you with visuals. One has an original premise.
Which "one" am I referring to?

There was no plot twist.
Everything had been leading up to that moment. You were given clues to the realization all throughout the film.

@ Trench: I agree. Minority Report was excellent but I thought the plot twist at the end seemed a bit forced and it brought the movie down a couple notches for me. Star Trek may not have had the greatest plot, but its presentation, pacing, and characters were just awesome.

Minority Report was a incredible film. I enjoyed that one 100%. I still can't see it being better than Star Trek. On the same level? Perhaps. Superior? No.

I thought the quality of the sci-fi films was under discussion not how much they made or how much attention they garnered.

I will happily be in the minority on this one and watch superior Minority Report, another great sci-fi, than watch Star Trek (2009).

You can find my minority report on Star Trek (2009) on my site.

I'm a major fan, but I don't like the first one with Captain Kirk. Like you said, not much action. It's too technologically-challenged.

I have to agree with you on this one. Nero wasn't "menacing" enough.
