Comments down, earnings up?
The Site, WTF — By trench on October 17, 2008 at 2:44 am | 47 VisitorsThis blog is hardly a huge money maker, but this month has been quite unusual for me and I felt that I had to share my experience with you all. I’ve been running Adsense for several years now, and its primary purpose has always been for the payment of my hosting and purchasing small items online. This month has been special however, and my page impressions have almost doubled yet my blog has gone unchanged.
What I found odd was the fact that my comments have been way down, yet my page impressions have skyrocketed. As a fan of comments, I’ve actually been quite disappointed with sparse amount I’ve had recently. Sometimes I think the comment function is broken! However, I can’t complain too much because my earnings have been so good. Maybe its just coincidence. I guess I’ll see how things turn out in November. haha.

That’s the entertainer in you wanting the comments! For as long as I’ve been doing bar magic, if they don’t want to take their pictures with me I feel a little down myself. If tips are good, then I don’t feel down for long.
@Polaris671 – I guess you right! you know me, I love to entertain!
I propose a swap, my comments for your earnings! :-)
Erics last blog post..John McCain Tries Cute, Comes Out Perverted
@Eric – It all boils down to traffic. I get great traffic but not many stay very long. ;(
Hey! I see your blog has had a facelift as well. Been lazy checking blogs for a while. Glad to see you are doing great :)
Soundtrackgeeks last blog post..Soundtrack Review: Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003)
Hi buddy! I have been experiencing the same thing. This week I posted almost daily since I watched a lot of movies, however several entries are still without any comment. Unfortunately, my blog is not as good as yours in earning money neither. I wish I can earn that much in a month.
AsceticMonks last blog post..Always: Sunset on Third Street Review
@AsceticMonk – The layout is amazing Ascietic. Its just a matter of getting traffic. The one thing I got going for this site is that it is extremely well indexed in the google search engines. I actually had some posts ranked #1~ Isn’t that something.
Something weird is going on all around – In the last week I’ve made $0 on the Rubicon Project. At least in previous days I would make my $0.10 or so a day. But for it to go down to $0 is very saddenning.
BTW, I LOVE your new EC
fragilehearts last blog post..Flickr Friday: Not pink today
@fragileheart – yep, Im not sure what’s going on. lol. Thanks. I needed a new look for my EC card. Something that would attract more attention. So far, I’ve doubled my drops ratio. I drop 50 I get close to 100. etc.. must be doing something right eh?
You’re making John Chow proud Trench.
My site has only been operational since last Jan but still, my AdSense numbers are not even close to yours. Well done. Like you said before in a really old post, its all about the placement and location of the ad.
Film-Book dot Coms last blog post..Kitty Lea co-stars in Kung Fu Flid
@Film – Yes, placement is really important. Traffic comes a close 2nd. John Chow eh? Not even close! LOL
This comment just cost you 6000 dollars. 6000 dollars and one Caddilac. That’s right. What are you gonna do about it?
Signed,
Ricky Roma
Really weird how it worked out. But hey, if less comments mean more months like this.. then I should probably shut up and not jinx your earnings by leaving this one! :D
Jacks last blog post..Silent Hill 5: Nevercoming
@Jack – You said that right! haha. Its almost the end of the month and I’ve actually surpassed $220.00 for the first time! lol
It would be nice to have both right? But I won’t mind having a few comments if my earnings would go up. Hehe
Jaypees last blog post..Toshiba Satellite A305-S6872
@Jaypee – Definitely!
I think the people that click the ads are not the commenting type. They come to a site to find info and if they can’t find it a n ad click sees them off.
I like to get comments as well but, gee, sometimes people are just mean and type rude rubbish.
Pauls last blog post..Pokemon Crater Free Online Pokemon Game
@Paul – My thoughts too. I got over 400 clicks in an hour with people looking for information about the Manny Paquiao winner!!! Amazing.. No comments though.
I guess it comes down to if you want a social site or a money site. It would be nice to have both. Comment at least show you people are interested in your writing.
And thank you for replying to the comments a lot of people don’t.

wow nifty.
where do you edit your site?
Where do I edit my site? I use FTP and edit using notepad.
You’ve got lots of web search traffic, I guess. And they don’t have to socialize so they don’t leave comments. Perhaps you’re lonely for company? Maybe you should go out more? Or be more active in social media? I don’t quite know myself. I don’t go out as it is.
I have a day job, and I blog at night. But it feels like a full time job. So many things to do, and so little time.
Thanks for visiting. Much appreciated.
jan geronimos last blog post..A Tale of Two Blog Problems and One Little Rascal
haha. Thanks Jan for commenting. I do get out quite a bit and my wife is really the only company I require, but I love it when readers start convo’s on the posts. It just makes it that much more meaningful to me.
