The Return of the Mac!

Personally, I’m really looking forward Nintendo’s latest release of the classic boxing game Punch Out! on the Wii Fit. I’ve never been a huge Nintendo player (I went from all the Sega consoles to the Xbox), but I may just pick up a Wii for Christmas after learning about the release of this title. I was such a huge fan of the original Mike Tyson Punch Out which I used to play religiously on the Micro Genius. After watching all the trailers and seeing Glass Joe and Hippo return for another showdown, it definitely brought back a certain degree of nostalgia for me.

As rumored, Nintendo today revived a fan favorite from the arcade and NES days at its Japanese press conference. Yes, Punch-Out!! is coming to Wii, sometime in 2009 to be exact. In the meantime, here are some screens to entice the senses and wax nostalgic until we learn more.

You boys and your video games. I remember watching someone play some boxing game once (can’t for the life of me remember the name of it) where in between rounds you had to apply a cotton bud or a cloth to whatever part of the face of the boxer was swollen the most to get the swelling down. BORING. LOL At least to a girl like me!

    hehehe sorry Chris

One word – Classic! They need to do a lot more of this, bringing back old skool games to the current gaming consoles. On my phone, I have a NES emulator and one of the games I have on it is Mike Tyson’s Punch Out. :D

@Jaypee – Do you have access online with your consoles. Punch out for instance is available on the Wii for $5.00 online. The original version I believe. I ton of games are available for DL on XBOX Live. I’ve played everything from Golden Axe to Rampage after DL’ing them. Fun stuff!

Is this the game that said, “Body blow!” whenever you hit your opponent? My little brother played a game that had that feature and to this day, when I hit him I say, “Body blow!”

My turn to comment on this. Well it is more about all these retro games on the Wii.
Retro to me would be playing my old Intellevision console .. ofh, fond memories :)

In regards to these downloadable Wii games, don’t you think they are a little expensive considering their age and that they are not on a disk. In Australia they work out to be around $15- $20 ! Gee you could probably get an old original NES with game carts for that money.
