Must See TV Shows of 2008

terminatorAlthough I normally don’t participate in these types of things, Reggie at Fragileheart.com tagged me to complete this “meme” sometime earlier this week. With Reg being such a avid reader here at 7milesdown, I felt obliged to complete this post! haha. .

My three “Must See TV” picks for the season:

1. Terminator : The Sarah Connor Chronicles

TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES represents an exciting reinvention of the “Terminator” franchise, in which the strong and intrepid Sarah discovers that protecting her son and stopping the rise of the machines is more difficult than she could had ever imagined. Fox Wiki

When it Airs: Mondays on Fox starting at 8:00pm.

Why I watch it: The casting is great, the character development excellent, and the plot engaging and suspenseful. If I must take the shallow route, just be sure to check out Lena Headey and Summer Glau. Talk about some serious eye candy. How can a mom who is under so much stress look so damn good? And even nuttier, How can a cyborg we know is a cyborg still be so damn sexy!! haha.

My favorite characters: Im definitely huge on Summer Glau. I’m not sure why I am drawn to her character but I think they made an excellent choice by choosing a female to protect John Connor rather than a male. Lena Headey was also perfect for the role as Sarah Connor. Been a fan since her performance in the film 300.

GSR2. Crime Scene Investigation

Im actually a fan of all three shows although my favorite out of the three is still the original Vegas series. The fact that they lost Warrick, Sara, and Grissom as members of the Las Vegas forensic team all in the same season is quite disappointing however. This may actually be the last season I’ll be watching the show if the new additions don’t appeal to me. Laurence Fishburne makes an interesting replacement for Season 9, but I’m still skeptical about CSI without Gil Grissom and Company.

When it Airs: Mondays on CBS starting at 10:00pm for CSI: Miami. Wednesdays at 10:00pm for CSI: New York. Thursdays at 9:00pm for the Original CSI.

Why I watch it: Its simply the best crime drama television series around! Need I say more?

My favorite characters: Its easily Gil Grissom. He’s just incredibly intelligent and I like the fact that he uses his brain rather than his brawn to solve a case. (not that he has much brawn anyway. lol) I would definitely choose Grissom to solve a case over Horatio Cane.

Although Grissom would be my first choice if I assembled a CSI team, Horatio Cane is an incredibly unique character and I definitely can appreciate his swagger. Cane is the ultimate vigilante type cop and isn’t afraid to use whatever means necessary to catch a criminal. I’ve never once seen Grissom shoot a gun, but Cane has done it on numerous occasions on the show. He’s just that type of guy.

Honorable Mentions: Warrick Brown and Sara Sidle who are apparently no longer going to be a part of the Las Vegas forensic team. boo.

3647-UltimateFighterLogo3. The Ultimate Fighter on Spike

The Ultimate Fighter is a reality television series and mixed martial arts (MMA) competition, originating from United States, and produced by Spike TV and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). On this show, professional MMA fighters that have yet to make a big name for themselves are situated in a house outside of Las Vegas, Nevada and compete against each other for the title of The Ultimate Fighter, winning a six-figure, multi-fight contract with the UFC. Wikipedia

When it Airs: Wednesdays on Spike starting at 10:00pm. ET.

Why I watch it:I’ve been a huge fan of the sport of mixed martial arts for several years now, and I just find it very entertaining to watch a bunch of fighters try to get along in a house with no access to the outside world. (no television, phone calls, sim cards etc..) The fights at the end of each show are usually very good (and free) and we get a glimpse of the type of training each fighter goes through to prepare for combat.

My favorite characters: There really isn’t a character per se on this show but my favorites have been coaches BJ Penn, Forrest Griffin and Rampage, along with house members Nate Diaz, Kenny Florian, and Joe Lauzon.

Honorable Mentions: (shows I try to catch as much as possible)

House M.D., Bones, and of course America’s Best Dance Crew.

People I tag for this are: Filmbook, Fitz, and Jenn Miller.

Rules:

1. List your ‘Must-see TV shows’ for this season (no minimum, no maximum).
2. Tag as many people as shows you list.

What’s on your ‘Must-see TV’ list this season?

    • @Jenn – After I watched Warrick get murdered at the end of season 8, I went nuts. I have to see how things will turn out! haha.

I loved DVR when I visited my friends in Virginia and Seattle this past Summer. We have it on Guam but the costs are just too damn high. I refuse to pay close to $200 for cable television and internet services. (DVR inclusive)

  1. You’re awesome for doing the meme – so far you’re the only one I’ve tagged that’s done it. LOL But you’re also the only one I’ve nagged so much to do it!

I have yet to catch an episode of Terminator: The Sarah Chronicles but I will one day! And uhm… has the season premiere for CSI aired yet? Did it air on Thursday? I was watching Grey’s Anatomy!!

    Thanks again for playing trench!

  2. I don’t watch any of those and from what I reading – Sarah Connor may night be making it too much longer. I try not to be too terribly invested in shows because they seem to get canceled pretty quickly. This season of House though is SO GOOD. Definitely watch that.
