Starship Troopers 3 : Marauder (DVD)
Movies, Three Stars — By trench on September 17, 2008 at 3:22 am | 1,553 VisitorsFor what its worth, Starship Troopers 3 : Marauders was actually much better than the 2nd installment entitled Heros of the Federation. With a shoestring budget of just under $20 million, I felt that Marauders was actually a decent straight to DVD release.
The first thing I’d like to mention is the storyline of the film. I’d really like to applaud the producers of Marauder for returning to the roots of Starship Troopers. When the original was released back in 1997, it was one of my favorite Sci-Fi films due to its originality and satiric qualities. After the insanely blockheaded release of its sequel Heros of the Federation, I thought the franchise was doomed for failure. Fortunately for us fans, Marauder pointed the series back in the right direction. The social satire found throughout the original was the key ingredient to its success, and Marauder returns with that same vision.
The second thing the producers did right was recast Casper Van Dien as Johnny, Hero of Planet B. Considering not a single member of the original cast appeared in Heros of the Federation, Van Dien returns to his original role almost seamlessly and simply picks up where he left off without a hitch.
If your a die hard fan of Starship Troopers, your definitely appreciate this film. Although its CGI and special effects where pretty outdated, they did the best they could with their minimal budget. (compared to the $100 million for the original). One thing to look forward to is the great nude scene which bears it all! The ladies definitely look good, and as far as I can tell are all natural! It really made up for the lack of a nude Denise Richards! haha.
Synopsis: The war against the Bugs continues! A Federation Starship crash-lands on the distant Alien planet OM-1, stranding beloved leader Sky Marshal Anoke and several others, including comely but tough pilot Lola Beck. It’s up to Colonel/General Johnny Rico, reluctant hero of the original Bug Invasion on Planet P, to lead a team of Troopers on a daring rescue mission.

I wrote a review for this flick a while ago:
I had similar thoughts about the film as well. Too bad Blalock wasn’t in that nude scene but I wanted to see Cécile Breccia naked from the beginning. Her accent is killer.
@Film – I moved your URL and its available when you click your name. All URL’s posted within the post get thrown into the spam que. Luckily I checked! haha
Watched this one last month. Liked how they kept the campiness. Gotta also love how the ladies stripped down to get into the marauders. WOohoo!
@Polaris671 – Yeah, I watched that section twice! lol
I laughed when I saw the trailer of this one, I couldn’t believe anyone would make another one. But I guess it is not too bad after reading your review. Maybe I should add it into my queue just for fun. Anyway, did anyone say there are some nude scene?

@AsceticMonk – A nice nude scene. Three hot women!! haha
Oh, we’re 0 for 2 – this is definitely another ‘not my kind of film’! hehehe
Like I said in my review, I wish the “connection” scene between human and Marauder was done like it was in the book.
Oh, and I found a screen capture of the entire nude scene in one jpg online months ago. Do a image search for Cecile in google images and it should come up.

I loved the first Starship Troopers and was as disappointed as most with the second. While you could tell #3 was a low budget film, it was still pretty entertaining. It wasn’t great, nothing spectacular, but it was just good, gory, and fun. And I’ll chime in with everyone else- the naked hot chicks didn’t hurt it any, haha!

@Tony – I think we all agree the naked hot chicks helped out alot! haha
Too bad they didn’t get the same budget like the first one coz I love the first Starship Troopers. Anyways, I’ll include this on my watch list. Thanks for the review! :)
