I dont care about the movie TDK but I did love the Titanic movie. That being said, what I really care about is Ex frontman Steve Perry of Journey releasing his new album after 13 years!!!

@Spencer - Read the link I gave you again. It says TOTAL BOX OFFICE. Box Office meaning THEATER sales. Not all the other stuff you mentioned. Would you like a screenshot? Here's a little more to tickle your fancy.

The only three current members of Hollywood's billion-dollar club are Titanic, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. On the domestic side, The Dark Knight is, with Titanic, one of only two movies to pass $500 million. (Titanic, of course, also topped $600 million to claim its box office crown.)

After setting box office land-speed records in the summer, The Dark Knight has spent the last several weeks gutting out five-figure days. By comparison, at the same point in its run, Titanic, even with 1998 ticket prices, was still capable of $1 million days.

I’m not sure if you understood the source you cited on the top 20 films, but if you read closely-or even read at all-you would notice that those numbers are not from just theaters. That includes all the money that the film has ever brought in, and I quote, “The figures represent the total amount of money a movie has taken in the United States over its lifetime,” keyword-lifetime. That would include VHS sales, the transition to DVD sales, collectors edition sales, and even current download sales. Given that many of those movies a head start of a couple of decades and The Dark Knight is still in theaters I would have to say that your analysis is a little off.

If they do a theatrical re-release, maybe they will do it like Blade Runner….”The Director’s Cut”…”The Final Cut” They must have enough extra footage to do a marketing gimmick like that. By the way, I did enjoy the Batman sequel The Dark Knight…Blade Runner doesn’t compare to it. I’m just trying to say we know how Hollywood studios love to milk a cash cow.

@Batman Dark Knight - It is undoubtedly impressive although even before it was released people were calling it the best movie ever. Many predicted it would in fact surpass the Titanic and by a good margin too.

The Titanic has a bigger appeal for women and older audiences so I didn’t think the Batman sequel Dark Knight would beat the Titanic’s movie box office record. The Dark Knight’s box office pace is still impressive.

Executives at Warner Bros. studios are re-releasing The Dark Knight next year in a bid to win the Batman movie an Academy Award.
