Just as I predicted, Fanny Pak gets eliminated from the final three crews. Although I absolutely admire Fanny Pak as a crew and for their uniqueness, in the end without any hip hop influences or b-boy style, they were ultimately sent packing. Here is an excerpt from my prediction made after week 5:
As much as I would like them to win, I just can’t see a crew without any hip hop influences win the show. Hip Hop is where its at and when it comes down to the final three, Fanny Pak’s unique style won’t be enough to get them in.
It was really tough to see Fanny Pak go because they were so different, but I think the judges made the right decision and chose the crew whom they believed could win the next title as “America’s Best Dance Crew”. However, based on the current voting trends and So Real’s strong following, I’m sticking to my guns and I remain convinced that So Real Cru takes the whole thing.
JC made the comment of the night by mentioning Brenda as Fanny Pak’s secret weapon. I couldn’t agree with him more. These ladies are putting on a show for the audience and they should be recognized for their talents. The boys all put on great performances, but its the ladies that give Fanny Pak and So Real Cru an edge. They will be the difference in this upcoming final. Please don’t get things twisted about my preferences however. Believe me when I say that Super Cr3w is sick as hell, but personally I think we need some ladies as champs this season and SoReal fits the bill perfectly.

Awh I haven’t been able to follow it since the first few episodes but I’m sorry to hear that Fanny Pak is gone. Though I guess you’re right, they were missing a few things. I don’t remember Super Cr3w making that much of an impression on me so I wouldn’t be surprised if you’re right and So Real Cru does win!

I was disappointed with SoReal’s performance for their “Kid ‘N Play” routine. THank goodness they brought their form up to par for the broom routine. Their intensity seems to be dropping and that is just unacceptable given how America has been backing them up with votes.
Fanny Pak and Super Crew brought their performances to new highs this week. I can appreciate how they brought their A-game.

I have to agree. They danced their hearts out and were really on point. The Flashdance routine was extremely entertaining. Despite getting eliminated, I feel that Fanny Pak will have the most commercial success of any of the groups from the season. So although many people will be sad that they had to make an early exit, the group I think will be the one that is remembered and gets the big money deals. If I was to choose between some title or money …SHOW ME THE MONEY!!!

It seems to me that there’s already some preconceived notion of what type of crews will ultimately make it to the final two.
And as much as I love and respect SoReal, I think they should’ve been sent home packing some time ago. ThisIsSoF..kingRigged had mentioned that Super Cr3w’s moves are nothing new…well, neither are SoReal’s. They don’t excite the same way that Fanny Pak does.
Watch out for next season…I’m willing to be that it’s going to be a west crew vs. another non-west crew. And if that’s going to be the case, I ain’t gonna be watching anymore.
@changmi – I was a huge fan of Fanny Pak and actually had them up there in the final with SoReal. I was disappointed to see them go as well.
Fanny Pak was robbed. I don’t see how you can say their lack of hip hop influence?? Cus they don’t 6-step or flair?? If you look at hip hop videos today, are they dancing more like Super crew or Fanny pak?? Hip hop has been expanding it’s influences for the past 20 years, growing to incorporate international sounds and movements, hop out of 1988 wil ya.
That doesn”t even take away from the fact that they were the cleanest group. Their moves weren’t repetitive, they were original and actual enjoyable to watch. If do-knock didnt distract people by flipping off of everything, super crew would be seen for the limited group they are. So real cru is sloppy and boring. i only remember one of their performances that made me pay attention, and then they flat lined and i saw the same simple moves again (floor glides and ground slides anyone??).
If you need b-boy style to win this, then change the name of the show and lets be honest. If you want a Dance crew, you know people who actually do choreography well & make you want to dance.. then theres no reason for Fanny Pak to not have taken this to the finals.
@limelight – I was a huge fan of Fanny Pak and would have loved to see them win. Reality of the matter is this. Two of the judges originate from hip hop backgrounds although Shane actually had them winning the entire thing and THE PUBLIC votes for the winners. If Fanny Pak fans dont vote, they wont win. Obviously there are tons of hip hop dance fans voting while not enough Fanny Pak fans are voting. They could have been saved automatically had they garnered enough VOTES.
I dont know why so many people are upset and felt Fanny Pak was robbed when AMERICA didn’t vote them in. Dont blame it solely on the judges. Put the blame on everyone else who had the opportunity to save Fanny Pak from the start but didn’t. SoReal Cru didn’t put on their best performances at all. I would have ranked them last that night, but AMERICA saved them so thats what really matters right?

I thought America votes for the bottom crews, in this case the bottom two. These crews battle for the right to stay in the competition. Then the judges vote/choose who stays based on that dance. So, I still think the judges made the wrong decision in voting off Fanny Pak.
Why are you going vote off the crew who received the FIRST STANDING OVATION from the judges?! Jabbawockeez didn’t even get a standing ovation from them.
I’ve always liked Fanny Pak’s dances. They got better and better. The best were the prom dance, the Missy Elliot’s “Get Your Freak On” and their last one w/ the spoof on the judges.
There were two dances that I didn’t like from So Real Cru. One was the dance before the broom dance. The other one I can’t remember.
(I was going to watch each episode on the MTV website and compare all their dances, but the video messes up when you fast forward. And there is no synopsis of the dances of each episode, it just states the challenge.)
If you compare So Real Cru with Jabbawockeez, they are similar in style, but Jabbawockeez is better. If you compare Fanny Pak with Jabba, you can’t because they are so different. I think Fanny Pak deserves to be on top with Jabba.
I will agree, though, that the ladies in this season (both in So Real Cru and Fanny Pak) are the best dancers!
@Car – Car, the crews with the highest votes are safe. America votes for the crews who stay on the show. The judges then look at the bottom two and vote off one of them.
The finale was a dissapointment all around. So real cru’s 1st performance was the worst of the season. Super crew pulled the same stunts they been pulling all season. ABDC should be really embarrassed. Atleast i got to watch Fanny Pak pull some originality out of their hats. I mean face it. You hire So real cru for a block party, u hire super crew for a break dance seminar, you hire Fanny Pak for videos and Concerts. This show is a joke.
@trench – According to Meg of Fanny Pak and repeat viewing, the last vote was based on total votes for the season. This means There is a disadvantage to begin with. Fanny Pak earned their audience and respect week to week. They didn’t just coast by with the fans they came in with. This development makes it even more questionable as to how they actually put So real cru on top. Just like every other week it should have been based on last weeks votes, or atleast divulge that the total votes are going to come in to play later. Even with so real safe…
Fanny Pak outperformed Super crew hands down, even super crew fans are saying it. The judges acknowledged that their routine was basically flawless. I’m at a loss on how you give someone a standing ovation, and then Say that they will be the winners, appreciate their diversity…and kick them out. It seems their was no cause, and i know they’ll never tell, but the hypocrisy doesn’t sit well and leaves the whole decision questionable.
SO if the producers can manipulate votes to achieve whatever results they choose, whats the point in saying its america’s vote. Also the voting practice is questionable. 1 person calling 100 times should not equal 10 people calling 10 times ( ALl the other public voting shows limit the amount of calls), and with the outcry i really doubt So real has as many fans as mtv would like us to believe. This just exposed how fraudulent the show is. There are too many circumstances that led to the America’s best dance crew being eliminated early.
Week 9 was only “ho-hum” for me. Maybe it was the fact that they had to come up with 3 routines, but both crews looked sloppier than usual. The only routine that really made me say “that’s interesting” was the first Super Cr3w routine. I think last season was very similar as well. The last week was the least interesting of all.
