I’ve been bodybuilding for several years now, and I’ve always trained at gyms which were basic in accommodations. As long as the equipment was in good condition I had little complaint about air conditioning or cleanliness. I’m actually one of those guys who enjoy the pain and sweat from a good workout. Talk about a shocker when I arrived in Vegas. I had a friend who worked at the Venetian Hotel and Casino and she hooked me up with some Gym and Spa passes while I was there (normally $80.00 for 3 days). I must say it was a very unique experience for me.
The Venetian’s Gym was the cleanest and most high tech gym I’ve ever been to. At most other gyms I’ve trained at, the equipment consisted of primarily a few machines, some treadmills, and decent section of free weights. Definitely enough for me to get by, but nothing out of the ordinary. The Venetian’s equipment trumped them all. They boasted a ton of free weights, new Hammer Strength machines from Life Fitness, a huge selection of stability balls, free bottled water, indoor rock climbing, and treadmills with their own lcd and heart rate monitors. I was pretty much in awe. Needless to say, my workouts were decent but not exactly exhausting. The great air conditioning made it much harder to sweat and large variety of equipment made me spend more time looking than actually training. It didn’t help either when a group of girls would walk through the gym wearing nothing but G-strings and tiny tops. I guess thats Vegas for you!
The spa was also very nice if not spectacular. My wife and I get regular massages here on Guam so I knew a little about what to expect. The Venetian had everything you would normally ask for at a five star spa. I found the service to be exceptional and the amenities to be top quality. The showers were very clean and large and the locker rooms were adequate for storing your personal items. My only real complaint was the size of their sauna and jacuzzi. They were a bit small for my taste and I wasn’t about to sit too close to another man just wearing a towel. I thought it would have been nice if they had at least three or four saunas to make up for its lack of size.
Overall, I’d rate the Venetian Gym and Spa a strong 4 out of 5. There were some small complaints here and there, but you expect that at every place you visit. I enjoyed the experience overall, but personally, it wasn’t exactly the prime location for a “intense workout”. You’ll definitely get a load of eye candy if your down there at least a week and the pampering during your stay is top notch. I just wish I had the opportunity to experience one of their so called “world class” massages. There’s always a next time right?
“World class” massage, huh? You get those at “Love Me Long Time!!” LOL!
@Car – You guys didn’t bother to take me there? haha
man, after trying to shower today at Paradise Fitness, I really miss the Venetian Showers!!! They have everything!!!
You don’t go Gold’s Gym anymore?
too bad these guys charge $40 a day for the gym, you’d think after dropping 150+ per night for a room they’d have something complimentary
That is true. Seems to be the trend nowadays. I tried booking a hotel in Japan with a free gym and you be surprised how hard that is to do.
