Travel : Agua Verde Mexican Restaurant

DSC00196Agua Verde Mexican Restaurant is truly a gem in the city of Seattle, Washington. Highly recommended by Rachael Ray on the Food Network, it was listed for its incredible fish tacos, great view, and reasonable pricing. Taking all this into account, my friends and I took the plunge and let me tell you, it was well worth it.

At first glance you’d probably think twice about visiting the place. We dined during the late afternoon, and already the restaurant was congested and brimming with guests. The parking was atrocious due to the spots popularity, and its parking lot was terrible, completely unpaved and unmarked. I actually had second thoughts about eating at this spot, but my wife and our friends told me to give it a chance. Once we got past the busy street, the experience did get better.

Rather than waiting inside for our pager to buzz, we walked around the “shack” to check out the views out back. The views were as advertised and we took a ton of photos just sitting there an enjoying each others company. By the time we realized it, over thirty minutes had passed and we were actually being waited on to be seated.

When we finally got back inside, we were fortunate enough to get a spot on the covered deck in the back of the restaurant. During our entire meal we had an unbelievable view of Portage Bay. Our server was extremely friendly and helpful and he came by regularly to check up on our table. As for the food, it was the highlight of the day. Based on recommendations from our server, I ordered the Halibut Fish Tacos. I can’t describe how excellent they were except by saying that they are absolutely the best fish tacos in Seattle. Handmade tortillas, creamy avocado sauce, and homemade salsa! wow! It was so worth the wait. After eating my buddy and I decided to wash everything down with a couple Mango Margaritas, and let me warn you, those margaritas are as authentic as it’s gonna get. The tequila was pretty potent and I couldn’t even finish the entire thing. From now on, I’ll just stick to drinking my Coronas or Heineken.

Overall, I have to say that this restaurant is top notch. The recommendations seen on television are completely true and they absolutely have the best fish tacos that I have personally tasted. Agua Verde is a must visit for anyone in the Seattle area, and I will vouch for them by saying that their dishes are well worth the money spent.
