On our first day in Washington D.C our friends took us on a evening tour of the entire capital. For three hours we traveled by bus and visited some of the most popular tourists sites within the area. The five stops we made included the Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Korean Memorial, and the FDR Memorial. Our tour guide also made time to stop over at the Iwo Jima Memorial to take photos which was pretty cool.
Overall, the tour was worth the price we paid. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about the area, and made the trip very educational and memorable. The beauty of the capital when it is completely lit up is an experience in itself and can only be appreciated during the evening hours.
I personally felt that the highlight of the entire tour was the wall at the Vietnam Memorial. Looking at the thousands of names engraved on the walls made for a very surreal moment and served as a true testimony of the strength and sacrifice of our U.S. Armed Forces. It was something I will never forget.
If you have not visited our nation’s capital or seen the capital and its monuments during the evening hours, I’d definitely recommend this tour. Its called Washington after Dark and is run by Grey Line Tours. You can purchase tickets online or at Union Station.
Cool.
I did the day trek.
