Wanted (Theaters)

Lets be completely honest with each other. Who needs a great storyline when you get a ton of adrenaline pumping action, some excellent humor, and most importantly, a great view of Angelina Jolie’s rear end.
Based on the a graphic novel by Mark Millar, Wanted simply put is every action fans dream come true. Sure the film was completely unrealistic and slightly predictable, but who really cares? The film was produced to entertain its audience and it delivered.
First off, I thought the casting was great. James McAvoy was perfect choice for the lead role Wesley Gibson. He portrayed the character well and I thought his character development was decent for a film which focused more on action sequences rather than its characters.
Angelina Jolie simply being in the film made this movie worth watching in theaters, and Morgan Freeman continues to put on a good performance regardless of the character he portrays.
The action sequences were phenomenal. I was really impressed with the CGI, and although much of the slow motion sequences reminded me of the Matrix and Fight Club, it worked out really well for this film. If you enjoyed movies such as 300 by Frank Miller and/or the Matrix by the Wachowski brothers, Im sure you’ll appreciate this movie. It really doesn’t get any better than this. Be prepared for quite a bit violence and vulgar language so please keep you kids at home. Its rated mature for a reason.
Synopsis:
Based upon Mark Millar’s explosive graphic novel series and helmed by stunning visualist director Timur Bekmambetov — creator of the most successful Russian film franchise in history, the Night Watch series — Wanted tells the tale of one apathetic nobody’s transformation into an unparalleled enforcer of justice. In 2008, the world will be introduced to a hero for a new generation: Wesley Gibson.

i’m glad you like it but i feel like i’ve seen this film a million times already. angelina jolie? in an action movie? really?
I feel the same way as Prach. I might go see WANTED on Tues (cheap night & also Canada Day!), but I might see a special screening of HANCOCK instead. Maybe I’ll wait for the DVD, unless Universal Pictures sends me a screener.

I tend to dislike unrealistic films even though I’m into SCI-FI. Curving bullets? Please…

Even though you knew what was gonna happen…it was still surprising with the way they made things happen. Does that make sense?
yeah, I can see where your coming from NDO. But I still cant give it a perfect score. It was a great film and I thoroughly enjoyed it, but I cant say it was groundbreaking or anything like that.
I’m so annoyed… no one wants to watch this with me. What happened to watching movies to be entertained??? It seems like the phenomenon is dying out as each season of movies passes by. I don’t care about realism! I want to watch hot men & women do cool things!
Reggie- Your right. Seems everyone is so nitpicky these days about films. As long as I’m entertained and it keeps me interested, I’ll watch it. I
I saw it yesterday! damn. I love it. Anyway, movies exist for entertainment, right? Digging this.

I love movies with substance and that are out to achieve art. But I also love movies that are meant purely for entertainment.
I wanted to watch Wanted over the weekend, but my girlfriend prefers Wall-E, so we watched that instead. Wall-E is an excellent movie, I will post the review later since now I have my blog back, but I will definitely catch Wanted this week.
