If you haven’t seen Ninja Warrior (Sasuke) on G4TV yet, you’ve been really missing out on some incredible feats of skill. Already in its 20th season, I consider Ninja Warrior to be “The Best” sports entertainment show on television today.
During each season, hundreds of hopefuls tryout for the opportunity to compete in a four stage obstacle course which increases in difficulty as you advance. Before the show airs however, the competition is narrowed down to only 100 contestants with a shot at becoming the next Ninja Warrior. In the twenty seasons of competition, only two contestants have ever completed all four obstacles. Kazuhiko Akiyama in season 4 and Makoto Nagano in season 17. The courses prove to be so difficult and competitive that many of these contestants actually set up ninja warrior training grounds to practice months before the actual show.
My personal favorite on the show has to be Sasuke all-star Shingo Yamamoto. He has competed in every Ninja Warrior to date (all twenty), and just comes off as a very likable young man. I’ve been cheering for him on all the seasons to date, and he always seems calm and collected when preparing to complete the courses. Even with all the success Yamamoto has had on Ninja Warrior, he continues to be one of the shows most humble competitors.
Kunoichi or Women of Ninja Warrior is also aired on G4TV. A spinoff of Sasuke, Kunoichi is now in its 7th season and is just as challenging as the original. Unlike Sasuke however, Kunoichi has a three time winner in Ayako Miyake. I’ve watched every season in which she won, and she is just completely amazing. Unlike Sasuke which focuses more on agility and strength, Kunochi focuses on agility and balance and Miyake’s abilities in that department are just unreal.
That sounds badass, gonna check it out
You really should try to catch it. They’ve been replaying every season.
