Vacation Plans this Summer

070312d_lgThe summer months are quickly approaching and my wife and I are off on our first vacation together as a married couple. Unfortunately the costs of our large wedding set us back a bit so we were unable to take our honeymoon immediately after the big day. Personally, its been over ten years since I’ve visited the mainland United States so this trip will definitely be a great one for me.

We basically have three major stops during our vacation. Our first stop is to the state of Virginia to visit my wife’s brother before his deployment to Iraq. We have plans to take a road trip up to Washington D.C. for a few days for some major sightseeing while spending our weekend at several amusement parks including Busch Gardens in Williamsburg and King’s Dominion in Richmond.

Our second stop is to Seattle Washington to visit a good friend who happens to be in the U.S. Coast Guard. He suggested we take a road trip up to Victoria, Canada for a few days and having absolutely no recollection of my last experience on Canadian soil ( I was under 5 years old) this will definitely be something to remember. I’ve heard great things about the beauty of Victoria so I’m definitely looking forward to it.

Our final stop will be in Las Vegas, Nevada. One of my brothers moved there several years ago so I plan to spend time with him as well as with a brother n law who relocated there recently. I’ve been told that the club scene out there is top notch so thats on the agenda along with walking the Vegas strip and catching a couple shows from the Cirque Du Soleil.

In reality, our itineraries are far more busy that what was mentioned above and I hope we have time to hit up most of them. If any of you have any suggestions on what the “MUST SEE’s” are in the areas we’ll be visiting, feel free to share! With the rising gas prices, traveling will inevitably be more expensive, so I want to make this one a worthwhile experience.

Awhhh finally getting a honey moon! And making it count too!! Too bad you’re not going anywhere that I can meet up with you. Canada is quite big as you know and Toronto is no where near Victoria unfortunately. And with my own travels, I won’t be able to make it over there. I’m afraid I haven’t visited any of those places either so I’m going to have to live vicariously through you!! :P

@ Reggie, yeah. It would be really nice to put a face behind the screen names but unfortunately I dont have the right resources to do so. If we like Canada (im sure we will), we actually plan to go again so there is always a next time.

Hey Trench, I definitely recommend the Love (Cirque du Soleil) show when you get to Vegas, if you are a Beatles fan! Very very good stuff. I’ll e-mail my contact info, but only if you e-mail me your dates and what not for visiting the area. I hope I’m in town!

@Toni The Cirque du Solei show I want to see the most is “O” followed by “Mystique”. I’m not a huge Beatles fan, but thanks for the recommendation.

    Yo Trench,

I’ve got an ultra luxury condo in the middle of the city known as the Adams Morgan District “www.adamsmorgannow.com” of Washington, DC. It’s loaded to hilt with clubs, restaurants, and attractions, including a 5 minute walk to the National Zoo, and 10 minutes to all the Smithsonian Museums. I’d be happy to have you and Mel stay, and you’ll have the use of the SUV if you want to do a road trip. I don’t know, after all the years followin’ your blog and shoyaroll, your kinda like mi familia!

Let me know, I’d be honored to have you guys over…if you need references, check w/ my dear friend Ruby!

    Peace,
    Bob
