Tyson vs. Holyfield III

I wasn’t too sure what to make of this announcement when I first read up on it on Yahoo Sports.
Evander Holyfield claims he could meet old foe Mike Tyson for a third time despite both former undisputed world heavyweight champions being in their 40s.
Both Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield are way past their prime years and this “Circus” of a fight will only tarnish their reputations as two of the most feared fighters in the history of sport.
I grew up watching the sport of boxing with my uncles starting in the late 80’s. My favorite heavyweight of all time is definitely Iron Mike. His tenacity and drive was unmatched and he just ripped through his opponents at will. He was really the sole reason I watched heavyweight bouts period. Growing up guys such as Marvelous Marvin Hagler, Sugar Ray Lenard, and Roberto Duran were the headlines of most big boxing events, but with the arrival of Iron Mike, things took a turn or the better in the heavyweight division.
Mike Tyson finally let his fame get to him and it ultimately lead to his undoing. It was a shameful time for him when he went to prison for rape and everything went downhill from then on.
I recall that Tyson did attempt a comeback several years ago to help pay for all his debts he had acquired over the years, and I was so embarrassed when I heard my childhood hero quit fighting in the middle of a round against Kevin McBride. Iron Mike never quits, or so I thought.
Anyway, from my standpoint, this fight is nothing but a big money making ploy. I’m pretty sure that everyone else who follows boxing feels the same way. Tyson’s days are done and and he needs to leave his gloves on the shelf. For the sake of your fans Tyson, don’t make a fool out of yourself and fight for the sake of making money. The aura of “Iron Mike Tyson” is far more valuable than a couple thousand dollars to pay your bills. Your heart is not with the sport of boxing any longer, and for those of us who looked up to you growing up during your glory years, its sure makes us feel stupid. Let us remember you as one of the greatest boxers to ever grace the sport. Not as a clown who used his past fame to earn a couple bucks.

Nice redesign! I say let them fight. They only fight if people want to see it.
As with strippers, fantastic boxers don’t come from normal environments, unfortunate as that is.
Michael’s last blog post..Will Ferrell Can Play Ball!
Let them fight? Real boxing fans wont want to see this. Its a joke. I guess if it can garner enough revenue then they might as well…. I’m not one of them however.
Tyson Was the Greatest Fighter of ALL time, in his prime he wud of kicked ali’s ass. He was an animal in the ring, Pure agression and raw power, people talk about his fights after prison like they are the defining point of his career, before prison Mc Bride wouldnt have even got past the starting bell before he was KO’d, Mike Tyson is an idol, a bullied youngster who saw tragidy in his life who then went on to become the greatest and most feroshis world champ there has ever been, or ever will be. Mike Tyson Vs Holyfield 3 ….. Id love to see it, just to see Iron Mike, the Knock Out Kid back in the ring again, who knows boxing might be back in his heart :)
They must fight. I dont care that they are both Mid-40’s geezers. Boxing is dead, so lets bring back Tyson to the Unified World Heavyweight Championship. Thats the only way boxing will spur any interest at all. Big George Foreman did it at age 45 in 1994. Iron Mike can do it in 2009. I think Big George and Big Larry Holmes can still mix it up and both should be still fighting for World titles. Also, start televising Thomas Herns comeback fights. Bring back Marvalous Marvin Hagler and “Hands of Stone” Roberto Duran, Julio Ceasar Chavez, and of course Tony Tubbs. I mean this, and I absolutely demand that the powers that be arrange all of these situations to happen ASAP!!!
Always good to read about boxing.
Can I ask though – how did you get this picked up and into google news?
Very impressive, is it something that is just up to Google or you actively created?
Obviously this is a popular blog with great data so well done on your seo success..
Thanks Wingchun. Boxing was the first combat sport I used to watch. However I’ve become much more of a mixed martial arts fan now. I miss PRIDE FC!!
As for google, I just optimized the site the best I could. Im sure my SEO could be alot better if I worked on it, but I have quite a few of my posts indexed really well with the engine.
