2nd Gen Iphone for Asian Markets?

iphone_2It is no secret that Apple has been working on its 2nd Gen Iphone feverishly for several months now. The rumors have been floating around the web even before the release of the first version back in June. These 2nd Gen phones are rumored to have a 3GB capacity and better battery life then their predecessor. Its also been mentioned that Apple will be offering optional models including the Iphone Nano and Shuffle.

There is one glaring question that still remains. Will Apple provide the Iphone for countries outside the United States? I know that many people have been able to unlock their phones via various techniques, but I would truly prefer these phones to be available globally and for the masses.

How is Apple suppose to convince me to trade my PC for a Mac if they won’t even allow me the simple luxury of the use of their phones? I live on a US territory (Guam), and since I’ve heard about the Iphone I’ve always wanted one. Unfortunately as a consumer outside the mainland United States, these wonderful phones do not work on any of our GSM networks.

  1. Funny you mentioned Asian markets because one of my friends has a 1st generation iPhone that he bought in Singapore. Then again, I heard that it was modified to fit to Asian standards.
Well I hope to see this second gen. iPhone. It would be great for it to reach markets outside of the United States!

  2. LOL! I like the pic you have of the iPods.

Well, in Australia I know of a number of people that imported the iPhone and after hacking it (via software), they managed to get it to work on the networks here.

So you can pick one up from eBay, hack it and get it to work locally. But I’d prefer to wait till it’s officially released here.
