Grindhouse – Planet Terror (DVD)

grind_house_ver3This film was pretty sick. Sick as in a totally great flick. Planet Terror was something out of the ordinary and the infection and flesh eating zombie attacks have to be some of the goriest I have ever watched to date.

The vintage look really set the mood for this film and the action in the movie was non-stop from beginning to end. I thought that both Rose McGowan and Freddy Rodriguez were perfect for their roles in the movie, and additions of the Bruce Willis and Quentin Tarantino put the film over the top.

Anyone into gory and disgustingly action packed movies will enjoy Planet Terror, the first half of Grindhouse. If your stomach is weak, this is definitely not a film for you. You will probably shut it down within the first twenty or so minutes. I’ll see if I can catch the 2nd half of Grindhouse’s double feature Death Proof and review it over the course of the week.

Synopsis:

After an experimental bio nerve gas is accidentally released at a remote U.S. military base in Texas, those exposed to the gas turn into flesh-eating, mutating zombies out to kill. An assortment of various people who include stripper Cherry (Rose McGowen), her shady mechanic ex-boyfriend Wray (Freddy Rodriguez), a strong-willed doctor (Marley Shelton), the local sheriff, and an assortment of various people must join forces to survive the night as the so-called “sickos” threaten to take over the whole town and the world.
