Shaolin Monks come to Guam

HRShaolinWarriors06Over the weekend I had the opportunity to watch the Shaolin Monks perform here on Guam. Twenty-four monks participated in the event and the youngest monk was just eleven years old.

Although the event seemed to be geared more toward the younger crowd, I still thought it was a worthwhile event to see regardless of age. All of the acrobatics and agility demonstrations were amazing, and many of the maneuvers these monks made looked humanly impossible.

The most important message these monks brought to the youth however was the importance peace and tranquility. Although these monks practiced a very fierce and aggressive form of art, this art form encompasses a great responsibility. The use of this art form is prohibited except when their is no other option and only for self-defense.

If you get the opportunity to see a Shaolin Monk performance, I would highly recommend you catch a show. Its worth the price of admission.
