How to cure Insomnia

The past few nights I just haven’t been able to get any quality rest. When I got off from work today, I had such a bad headache I skipped my gym session. I’m trying to figure out the underlying cause for it, but I’ve been unsuccessful so far. The first thing I addressed was my daily routine and nutritional intake. I’ve been on a couple supplements for my weight training regime and I take a nap when I get home from work, but I’ve always been doing this. I also get up fairly early (5:30am) to prepare for my workday, so I don’t think I’m oversleeping at all. After doing some reseach on the net, I found a pretty interesting list on the internet. (link) Some of them were pretty funny.
The items in bold are things I do routinely anyway, so I don’t know if these will work.
- See a Doctor
Take a Warm Bath
Get a Massage
Listen to Music
Drink Warm Milk
Drink Herb Tea
Eat a Bedtime Snack
Avoid Caffeine, Alcohol and Tobacco
Sleep in a Well-Ventilated Room
Sleep on a Good Firm Bed
Sleep on Your Back
Get Some Physical Exercise During the Day
Keep Regular Bedtime Hours
If You Can’t Sleep, Get Up
Don’t Sleep In
Get Up Earlier in the Morning
Avoid Illuminated Bedroom Clocks
Counting Sheep?
Sleep With Your Head Facing North
Don’t Watch TV or Read Before Going to Bed
Toe Wiggling
Stomach Rub
Progressive Relaxation
Deep Breathing
Visualize Something Peaceful
Visualize Something Boring
Imagine It’s Time to Get Up
Not Thinking
Yawning
Sex—Alone or with Others
Counting Backwards
If you have any suggestions, or have experienced insomnia before, please share what worked for you! I seriously need some quality sleep!

sorry to hear bout that. insomnia is something that i never have a problem with. its very rare for me not to be able to sleep. i sleep whenever i have the opportunity and that includes 10 or 15 minute naps especially after lunch. at night, i stay up late coz of TV or the PC but if i just lay in bed, I’ll be off to la la land in no time.
hope you get over it and get that much needed sleep. :D
I can’t sleep when I work too much, whether it’s @ the gym, @ the job, or a combination of both.
Good luck man.
I laughed at the “Sex – Alone or with others” part of the list. =)
I have not experienced insomnia before, but I have heard that keeping a regular bedtime hour is a good way to regulate your sleep. If things get worse, I guess it’s always best to consult with a doctor. I heard insomnia can be a case to case basis at times. Good luck!
I don’t think I get enough sleep!
Well, what kind of music are you listening to? It might help to stop blasting your music! (Hehe, j/k!)
Try a nice hot shower or a massage (i.e. if Mel’s a good massager! but then that might awaken someone else ;p) Oh! And a stomach rub!
Do you take multivitamins? Also, if you do, too much vitamin B will keep you up all night — I know, trust me.
yes I do. In the mornings, but I’ve always taken them?
i have bad insomnia in the summer, but i blame it on sleeping in late and staying up even later.
I take nyquil! it works for me.. i tell yah,. try it one time..
