Cars (DVD)

cars.sized The first voice I recognized was Mater’s (the tow truck) voice. *nudging my wife* “Baby, ain’t that the dude from the Blue Collar Comedy Show?” haha. Last night I could not remember his name, but this morning I found out it was the voice of Larry the Cable Guy.

I thought this movie was excellent. Although it was two hours long, it didn’t seem that way at all while viewing it. Visually, the movie is superb. Its actually one of the best I’ve seen using CGI. I’ve never been a very big fan of CGI based films because I’ve always prefered two dimensional drawn movies. I guess Im old school. This movie however was done so well, that I can honestly say I could not imagine it done in the 2-D format.

The story itself also tugs at the heart. It is a fairly predictable movie, but it was done so well that it really doesn’t matter. You’ll appreciate the message of friendship, loyalty, and love that this film clearly conveys to its audience. This is definately a great film to add to your animated movie collection. Pick it up.

Synopsis:

Lightning McQueen is a cocky, rookie race car. Speeding on his way to a big race, he crashes into Radiator Springs, destroying lots of the inhabitants belongings. In order to make up for what he did, the cocky roadster is sentenced to community service. Though he will do anything to get away from the work, McQueen must learn to respect and bond with the Radiator Springs inhabitants in order to get out of the town and back on the racetracks.

  1. Hey this sounds like a good flick. I can’t believe it’s out on DVD already. I could’ve sworn it was just in movie theaters. Time flies ..

I’m placing this near the top of my Netflix movie queue. :)

  2. its a good movie. tenchically superior to anything ever released. overall, i thought it wasnt up to par with toy story, toy story 2 or finding nemo. that doesnt mean cars isnt good, just not as good in my opinion.

  3. Thanks for the review. I have been wanting to watch this but my friends were not keen on the idea. Now I have a reason to rent it. =) Thanks again!

  4. Trench,

I geeked over Bartleme’s design for SO long when he had it on his public page…it played a large role in my recent redesign from the purely white page with comic header to the updated ‘tech’ look. Crazy to see that it’s gone public due to his redesign.

Anywho, amazing job implementing! It looks great…Now I’ve just got to resist all temptation to install it myself…I suppose I could always upload it and allow users to chose between the two..but that would require getting FAlbum, etc. to work with it…Maybe next summer! ;)

Sorry to leave this as a comment on an unrelated page but the ‘contact’ page was/is broken.

  5. wow, cool new theme! i like it. btw, i checked out the designer’s site but this isn’t available for WP. how did you do it? can you share it with me? don’t worry, i’m not gonna use it for my blog. hehe. :D
