I was not overly impressed with the 2nd installment of Pirates of the Caribbean. Dead Man’s Chest was nowhere close to being as good as the original Curse of the Black Pearl.
The good? The production was fantastic. Disney spent a pretty penny. The pirates were filthy, the scenes were exotic, and the CGI was awesome. Everything we could expect from a blockbuster summer film. The main characters all returned and they performed their roles exceptionally well.
The bad? The screenplay wasn’t very good. It dragged in many parts I lost track of what was going on. I think that the movie was just too long and they could have definately done without a few scenes.
Overall, the movie was a average one. It wasn’t anything to rave about, but its definately a film the entire family can enjoy. Any fan of the first film should definately catch this in theaters. Plus, the movie makes it clear that a third installment is on its way!
Synopsis:
Once again thrown into the world of the supernatural, Captain Jack Sparrow finds out that he owes a blood debt to the legendary Davey Jones, Captain of the ghostly Flying Dutchman. With time running out, Jack must find a way out of his debt or else be doomed to eternal damnation and servitude in the afterlife. And as if this weren’t enough, the Captain’s problems manage to wreck the wedding plans of a certain Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann, who are forced to join Jack on yet another misadventure.

A friend of mine said that it was too ‘lord of the rings’ for her liking… not sure what she meant though… haven’t seen it yet.
ive heard mixed opinions on pirates. most people i know said it was good and then a few said it could have been better. i’ll probably go see it, or just wait til it comes out on dvd.
lol, you’re reminding me a lot of April right now… with all the theme switching that is
lol. Sorry. Been bored. Cant make up my mind what to customize.
Nice new theme, cool black and blue. Anyways, now that I’ve read enough reviews saying that PR: DMC (the title’s too darn long!) is just an average film I’m no longer going to wtach it in the theaters, I’ll just wait for the DVD release, lolz
I haven’t reviewed it yet. I saw it last weekend, and I must say: it was too damn long. So on that front, I whole-heartedly agree.
HUWAT.. AVERAGE??
Joke!
I heard on the radio: “It’s funny to see Johnny run like a girl.. but to see it thrice…”
Hmm, I’m sure I’m gonna love it even if he runs like a girl ten times and it’s not people think it’s not funny anymore.. Johnny is just that.. ADDICTING!
Hahaha!!!
GOD.. I need to watch this movie.. It’s been playing since the 7th.. what’s wrong with me???
i’ve seen it and i was also lost with the story halfway… and the audio was poor i could no longer distinguish the conversations from the SFX aside from the frequent murmurs from behind us… the graphics i can say were awesome and that, children will really enjoy…
thanks for droppin by my site…
haven’t watched the film yet. yeah, ive heard from my friends that it’s just an average film. Wait ko na lang yong DVD release hehe…
I just watched this film the other day, and wrote a review of it in my Vox journal. The funny thing is, what you said mirrored what I said as well, and this is the first time I read this entry. I also gave it a 6 out of 10. Great minds think alike? Hehe!
I have to add, though.. the ending was so corny. I don’t mind the idea of another movie coming up, but the way it was executed was a bit.. eh.
hated it.
