Giving up Beer…

Those keeping up with my lose the gut posts have probrably been wondering how my workouts have been. Well, I’m currently on a five day split and motivating myself to go and hit the weights has been very easy for me. I’ve been training since 2000 and the gym is part of my lifestyle. When I dont go, I start to literally feel sick!

The nutritional diet was a bit tough the first week, but I’ve become accustomed to it and I’ve been sticking to my guns. The only setback I have now is controlling my urge to drink a beer! I have not touched a beer since my diet stared two weeks ago, but the temptation has been very strong. The urge has been even worse these past couple weeks because its the summertime and my homies are back for vacation. Im surrounded by beer drinkers!

I’ve been teased a bit about drinking water in the clubs, but in the end I know it will payoff. I’m really aiming for a nice set of abs by the end of my summer break. I think I will start drinking a couple beers here and there once I attain my goal, but until then, its hands off.

Wish me LUCK!

  1. Good luck dude. I admire your determination. I know I’d never be able to give up my Heineken! Unless it was for another brand of beer, haha.

  2. You will be surprised how easy you can do it.
I near enough gave up drinking totally in the last 6 months whilst I was training, yet now drinking does not really bother me. Had a beer last night and it was all a bit strange. Plus it leads to very cheap nights out ;)

  3. Chris, go for the light beer… even if it doesn’t taste as good. If you go completely cold turkey, you might end up binging. If you do want to go cold turkey though, make sure you get a lot of support from your wife (I bet I’m preaching to the choir) and drink lots of green tea. Green tea will boost your metabolism and you’ll lose the weight and retain muscle much quicker. I promise.

  4. Im a beer drinker. I occasionally go nuts with shots, but I dont like the dehydration afterwards. The next day always sucks for me with shots. I can drink beer as much as I want, get drunk, and wake up feeling perfectly normal the next day. haha.

  5. Ha! You sound like my Hubby. He only drinks it now on our only day of the week, “cheat day” We can eat whatever we want that day. He drinks beer but instead drinks the “light” beer like April mentioned. It’s ok to have a beer or two here and there but not more than that. And have the light beer to cut your craving.

Good Luck! You’re doing good though.
ps. You changed layouts again! I like the ones before. This one’s too plain for me. That’s just me though.

  6. I’m so thankful I’ve not been inclined to drinking beer. I prefer the mixed drinks and the occasional wine cooler.

As for health regimens I’d love to go on a cleanse. But I’ve not been good and ready for one. And I need to be those things first before any commitments.

Actually, I’ve been really noncommittal to anything (except for work) since I’ve been back on island. Weird.

  7. Come to France! You will be surrounded by wine drinkers then!
But seriously, resisting that nice cold golden bitter-sweet beverage with that tender white foamy crown is not easy esp. in the summer time. Must … resist!
alc-free or Shandy ftw but then again it’s not the real deal.

Don’t forget, motivation comes from reward and you need to reward yourself for goals reached :)

    Good night, and good luck!
