Aeon Flux (DVD)
Originally, I was suppose to catch The Da Vinci Code, but my wife and I both caught the flu and got stuck at home watching Aeon Flux. I was pretty disappointed. I’ve watched several episodes of the animated version of Aeon Flux on MTV and those really kicked ass, so I was expecting much of the same from this film since it was produced by MTV.
The story started off really slow and never picked up. The action wasn’t something most of us haven’t seen already. I guess that once you watch the Matrix, everything else is just a copycat. I tried to be subjective about it, but I didn’t see much about the movie that I liked. The movie dragged along throughout most parts and the plot was just plain boring.
One plus about the film was its visual effects. They were stunning and it made up a bit for the movie. It reminded me a bit of Equilibrium (which is a awesome film BTW). Actress Charlize Theron also fits very well in that outfit of hers and looks pretty damn hot.
Unless your a hardcore Sci Fi fan or a huge Theron fan, I’d probrably skip this one all together.
Karyn Kusama, the writer-director of GIRLFIGHT, the story of a tough female boxer, turns her attentions to a tough female superhero in AEON FLUX. Based on a series of animated shorts that aired on MTV, the live-action feature film version stars Charlize Theron, in jet black hair, as the secret agent of the title. Aeon Flux is a Monican who has been ordered to assassinate Trevor Goodchild, the leader of Bregna–a futuristic walled city that is the last vestige of humanity on 25th-century earth. But a long-buried memory prevents her from killing him, ultimately making both of them targets. As Trevor battles his brother, Oren, for control of Bregna, Aeon seeks revenge for the murder of her sister while also being hunted down by her former partner, Sithandra. At the center of it all is a secret that threatens to tear everything apart.

Well see, I love Charlize and I love sci-fi, so I gave it mad reviews. You commented back in the day too, lol.

While the effects were pretty good (and as a straight girl, I thought she looked pretty hot, too), I was growing impatient with Theron’s “porno” voice. (You know, the husky, deep tone?) I did not catch the animation, and perhaps the voice was intended, but it got annoying after a while.
I love the interiors of the places that were shown in the movie. Very gorgeous!

Interesting review. I actually have this movie on my list with Netflix. Maybe I’ll push it back. I’m a fan of Therons, which is why I considered it in the first place. But thanks for the heads up.

I totally did not like this movie. At first it was alright. I even thought. “Theron is better than Jolie”. Until I saw that one chick whose feet were actually hands. I turned it off right there. Hehehe.
About Team Guam. It’s the baseball team here in OK. They won their first game last Thursday. Hehehe.
