Coincidence or Conspiracy?
I was reading up on a little history about ancient civilizations and something occured to me. Ancient Sumeria was one of the first civilizations to have existed on earth. Today, the land of Ancient Sumeria is known as the infamous country of Iraq. I found it pretty interesting because of the current state of Iraq and the rest of the world. Could this War on Terror we are fighting on the lands of our first civilizations result in the end of civilization? A coincidence or a conspiracy? If this is teh beginning of World War III, it will be fought conventionally at first, but may end with the use of nuclear weapons. If a nuclear fallout ever occured, our world as we know it could come to an end and civilization would cease to exist. Just a little something to think about…

Trench,
Interesting post. While reading it, I found myself pondering over a few things such as how the US has pretty much always been at war, ever since their institution of the Manifest Destiny. Second, the end of civilization could hardly be brought about by the use of nuclear weapons! We all know that only the brutality and lethal force seen in a round-house kick by Chuck Norris could cripple the world as we have come to know it today.

Nations rise and fall and are not meant to exist forever.

nice post. one of the greatest empires in the ancient world was Babylon, which is now Iraq. i’ve also read somewhere that researchers/experts are saying that the location of the Garden of Eden was near the Tigris and Euphrates rivers which most likely would be located in Iraq.

Mesopotamia was actually what scholars argue was the first civilization built by the sumerians in present day Iraq. I just found it interesting that all these predictions about the world ending comes from the same location where civilization supposedly began.

The biggest city in Sumeria was called “Uruk”…modern day spelling? Iraq. You learn something new everyday. Also, Sumeria was the land of the oldest story ever written, The Epic of Gilgamesh. Babylon has been the backdrop of thousands of civilizations, including Ur, which is where the Judeo-Christo-Islamic patriarch Abraham hailed from. All because of good irrigation by the Tigris and Euphrates. Amazing what a little water and wheat can do.
